Valence Batteries Chosen for Segway's Newest Product

World's Leading Provider of Personal Electric Transportation Solutions Again Selects U-Charge® Series

AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Valence Technology, a manufacturer of safe, long‐life lithium ion magnesium phosphate advanced energy storage solutions, today announced its product has been chosen by long-time customer Segway for use in its recently released Segway® SE-3 Patroller.

The SE-3 Patroller is a three-wheel device designed for police and security markets. It is a perfect fit for applications that require a larger vehicle, with a significant command presence (even in a parked position without a rider aboard), or that require a rider to frequently mount and dismount the vehicle during a patrol. The SE-3 Patroller is powered by multiple Valence rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries that can be charged at any standard electrical outlet or swapped out for replacement batteries to allow for continuous use.

"We're pleased that Segway selected our solution for use in its SE-3 Patroller," said Bill Ott, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Valence. "Their choice to implement our U-Charge Series batteries in their newest product is a testament to our longstanding, successful relationship."

Mary Savage, Chief Operating Officer, Segway, added, "We've worked with Valance for over 10 years. We continue to select their solutions because they consistently deliver high-quality batteries, which are a great fit for our products, as well as exemplary customer support."

The Valence U-Charge series provides safe energy storage solutions in standard Battery Council International lead-acid battery module sizes for a wide variety of applications. It is available in multiple configurations and incorporates a built-in battery management system. In addition, the battery series is fully-scalable and ensures a cost effective replacement for typical lead acid applications as well as provides twice the run time and up to 10 times the cycle life.

DevOps is about increasing efficiency, but nothing is more inefficient than building the same application twice. However, this is a routine occurrence with enterprise applications that need both a rich desktop web interface and strong mobile support. With recent technological advances from Isomorphic Software and others, it is now feasible to create a rich desktop and tuned mobile experience with a single codebase, without compromising performance or usability.
