LENEXA, KS -- (Marketwired) -- 08/15/14 -- Grantham University announced today that its president, Joseph McGrath, rejoins Grantham Education Corporation (GEC), the financial sponsor of Grantham University, to advise and oversee the development of external opportunities including international and other strategic initiatives.
Mr. Stephen Waldron has been selected to serve as Grantham University's chief operating officer as Mr. McGrath steps into his new role. Mr. Waldron will be responsible for day-to-day operations. Mr. Waldron came to Grantham from the United States Marine Corps, retiring with the rank of Colonel after 27 years of service. While in the Marine Corps, he held several command, staff and judge advocate positions, deploying to various combat zones on three occasions. He holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy, a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from Marine Corps University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Michigan State University.

Mr. McGrath was selected President of Grantham University in October 2011. During his tenure, Mr. McGrath focused Grantham University on enhancing student success and support through increased faculty, student-centric support methods, new programs, and partnering with other intuitions of higher education. Prior to his selection as president, Mr. McGrath spent nine years with GEC serving in a variety of capacities, including chief financial officer.
Before joining Grantham, Mr. McGrath served in Switzerland as the chief financial and administrative officer for a collection of private schools in Europe and spent 25 years in commercial and corporate banking. Mr. McGrath, a U.S. Army veteran, served as an officer at the NATO Headquarters LANDSOUTHEAST in Izmir, Turkey, and as an officer at the Third Regional Assistance Command (TRAC) in South Vietnam. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Harvard College and a Master of Science in Education from the University of Southern California.
