Brandon Semenuk Defends Title With Hometown Victory at 2014 Red Bull Joyride

Canadian Athletes Dominate the Podium in Whistler at the Largest Slopestyle Mountain Biking Competition of Its Kind

WHISTLER, BC--(Marketwired - August 17, 2014) - One of the most hotly anticipated events of the week-long Crankworx Whistler festival, Red Bull Joyride hit the mountain on August 16th featuring the best in slopestyle mountain biking. As a season-defining competition on the FMB world tour, 19 of the best international riders put it all on the line for a spot on the podium and the $50,000 prize purse.

It was Canada's own Brandon Semenuk who walked away with the first place win, successfully defending his title as Red Bull Joyride champion and also becoming the first rider to earn three first-place wins in the event. Semenuk claimed the top spot in 2011, 2013 and 2014. Infront of a roaring crowd of 30,000 gathered in Whistler Plaza, the largest audience in the four year history of the event, the 23 year old delivered back to back clean runs in one of the best performances of his career, edging out Canadian compatriots Brett Rheeder and Anthony Messere who both delivered solid runs.

"Winning this event last year was pretty amazing. But winning it back to back years? It feels amazing since this event just gets bigger and bigger every year", said Semenuk on his back-to-back victory.

The win places Brandon in an exclusive club in which only he resides, having won three Red Bull Joyride competitions. With this year's release of Rad Company, another season of his series Life Behind Bars and today's big win, the year 2014 has been a hallmark in the young athlete's career.

This year's Red Bull Joyride course was one of the largest built yet. Built by riders for riders, the focus this year was on flow and amplitude after athletes expressed a need to go even bigger following the 2013 event. Each of the features was increased in size over previous years by as much as 3 feet and included the addition of two all new features; the 'Giant Box Stepup' and 'Bud Light Whale Tail'.

Red Bull Joyride, a headline event of the Red Bull Signature Series, will air Sunday, September 28 at 3:00pm EST on NBC. The show is brought to a national NBC audience in partnership with Dodge Dart, GoPro and Polaris RZR.

VIDEO: BEST RUNS

Slopestyle mountain biking continues to progress more and more each year as athletes push for bigger more technical tricks. The bar was raised once again with big deliveries from Semenuk, Rheeder and Messere. Brandon's confidence was clear from the get go, with an unprecedented backflip 1-foot can off of the first drop which set the standard for the rest of the competition. What followed was an example in flare and technicality featuring a backflip double whip, 360 foot plant off the Joyride Cabin and who corked 720's executed to perfection.

But running multi-container, multi-server apps with containers ...
Software development, like manufacturing, is a craft that requires the application of creative approaches to solve problems given a wide range of constraints. However, while engineering design may be craftwork, the production of most designed objects relies on a standardized and automated manufacturing process. By contrast, much of moving an application from prototype to production and, indeed, maintaining the application through its lifecycle has often remained craftwork. In his session at Dev...

The Internet of Things is a misnomer. That implies that everything is on the Internet, and that simply should not be - especially for things that are blurring the line between medical devices that stimulate like a pacemaker and quantified self-sensors like a pedometer or pulse tracker. The mesh of things that we manage must be segmented into zones of trust for sensing data, transmitting data, receiving command and control administrative changes, and peer-to-peer mesh messaging.
