Restaurant Week Grand Rapids Kicks Off Its 5th Anniversary to Celebrate Wonderful Dining in Grand Rapids, Michigan

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- (Marketwired) -- 08/18/14 -- In 2010 Experience Grand Rapids saw an opportunity to create Restaurant Week Grand Rapids to showcase its newest food trends and unique restaurant scene that was developing and thriving in this successful Michigan city. Now in its 5th year, Restaurant Week Grand Rapids has become one of the most popular events in Grand Rapids that was recently voted the #1 Travel Destination for 2014 by Lonely Planet.

According to Janet Korn, Sr. Vice President of Experience Grand Rapids, "Grand Rapids has arrived as a food destination. Local restaurants' top-notch culinary teams year round combine their creative flair with use of fresh local ingredients. This is especially delightful during Restaurant Week Grand Rapids that runs August 13 - 24, 2014 during the peak of the summer harvest season. Restaurant Week gives us a chance to celebrate what is happening in our great restaurant scene and to showcase how they use healthy and colorful local farm ingredients on their menus."

Grand Rapids also currently stakes its claim as the titleholder "Beer City U.S.A." for the second year running. Well-known breweries in Grand Rapids include Founders Brewing Company, named the 3rd best brewery in the world, Brewery Vivant, Mitten Brewery and HopCat, designated the #1 brewpub in the nation (ratebeer.com) and for the last several years the #3 beer bar on earth. Grand Rapids was also named one of the top 10 Best Vacation Cities for Beer Lovers.

Michigan is also the 4th largest state in the U.S. for grape production and ranks 13th in wine production, producing more than one million gallons of wine annually. "It was only fitting," says Korn, "that 'Perfect Pairings' was decided as our theme for Restaurant Week Grand Rapids 2014 to showcase great beer, wine, liquor and coffee pairings that pair well with different foods on Restaurant Week Grand Rapids menus. Restaurants have been encouraged to pair their food selections with wine, beer, spirits or coffee that complement each of their courses, making it a fun and educational experience for diners who visit Grand Rapids to see how different beverages pair well with certain foods."

This year Over 60 restaurants are participating in Restaurant Week Grand Rapids with 45 restaurants offering delectable 3-course locally inspired menus for $28 per person. An additional 22 restaurants are offering a two-person menu of 3-courses for $28 with plenty of food for those on a budget or who want to dine out more casually. All of the restaurants participating and their menus can be viewed on RestaurantWeekGR.com so the public can decide where they want to have dinner through August 24th.

Docker offers a new, lightweight approach to application portability. Applications are shipped using a common container format and managed with a high-level API.
