BRUSSELS, BELGIUM -- (Marketwired) -- 08/19/14 -- WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE: WBC) (www.wabco-auto.com), a leading global supplier of technologies to improve the safety and efficiency of commercial vehicles, today announced that at IAA Commercial Vehicles 2014 in Hanover, Germany, it will showcase the company's continued technology leadership in vehicle safety and efficiency through its advanced systems, products and services, including new fleet management solutions.
IAA Commercial Vehicles 2014, one of the industry's most global and comprehensive trade shows, will be held in Hanover from September 23 to October 2.
"Given that IAA is a global industry event and WABCO is a leading supplier to every major manufacturer of trucks, buses and trailers in every region of the world, we expect to meet with a significant representation of customers from across the globe," said Jacques Esculier, WABCO Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "At IAA 2014, we will demonstrate our unique support for the diverse requirements of original equipment manufacturers in pursuit of their own global, domestic and export opportunities, particularly as WABCO's differentiation is rooted in our ability to deliver competitive, value-based solutions in mature and emerging markets alike."
"WABCO offers a world of difference that adds value for each customer in every region through cost-effective technologies, global connectivity and service excellence," said Esculier. "At IAA 2014, we will once again show how WABCO's technology leadership is grounded in our unmatched ability to foresee and fulfill our industry's constant search for innovations that advance vehicle safety and efficiency while also anticipating tomorrow's needs for trucks, buses and trailers in different regions of the world."
Among other innovations, WABCO will launch its industry-first modular braking system platform (mBSP), the company's latest braking architecture. It now enables customers worldwide to interchangeably equip their diverse global truck and bus platforms with anti-lock braking (ABS) or electronic braking (EBS) systems based on regional market or regulatory requirements. WABCO's next generation mBSP features the industry's highest standardization across ABS and EBS components and systems software.
WABCO will introduce its breakthrough driver assistance technology that foresees the topography of the road ahead. Using GPS data and proprietary algorithms, WABCO's new and advanced predictive cruise control system automatically adjusts the vehicle's speed, optimizing cruise control and offering significant fuel-saving potential.
WABCO will exhibit its industry award-winning OptiDrive automated manual transmission (AMT) technology that increases fuel economy up to 5 percent through optimized gear shifting. WABCO's OptiDrive, a breakthrough in AMT technology, continues to be rapidly adopted globally among major manufacturers of transmissions, trucks and buses, particularly in emerging markets. OptiDrive increases vehicle efficiency while also improving driver effectiveness and vehicle safety as it frees drivers from frequent clutch and gear-shift actuation.
WABCO will also showcase its safety technology portfolio that helps to save lives in accidents involving commercial vehicles. It features multiple "industry firsts" in collision mitigation, advanced emergency braking and high-tech driver assistance systems, among other major innovations.
For example, WABCO's OnGuard, North America's leading collision mitigation system (CMS), is the first CMS with active braking in that region. In addition, WABCO is differentiated by integrating technologies to further elevate vehicle safety. OnGuardPLUS is the industry's first advanced emergency braking system that complies with European Union regulations now in effect. It warns the driver, autonomously brakes, and can bring the vehicle to a complete stop.
WABCO will also showcase its broad portfolio of innovations that further improve vehicle efficiency as the company addresses increasing demand from original equipment makers and fleets to help produce trucks, buses and trailers that are more cost-efficient, cleaner and greener. For example, a truck equipped with all of WABCO's environmentally friendly technologies can improve fuel economy by more than 10 percent, which lowers total operating costs and reduces emissions over a vehicle's lifetime.
Transics International, WABCO's wholly owned subsidiary and an industry leader in fleet management solutions, also joins IAA 2014. As well as enhanced vehicle safety performance, the combination of Transics' fleet management solutions and WABCO's commercial vehicle systems expertise enables large-scale commercial fleet operators to improve real-time management of their trucks, trailers, drivers and cargo, among other business benefits.

Fundamentally, SDN is still mostly about network plumbing. While plumbing may be useful to tinker with, what you can do with your plumbing is far more intriguing. A rigid interpretation of SDN confines it to Layers 2 and 3, and that's reasonable. But SDN opens opportunities for novel constructions in Layers 4 to 7 that solve real operational problems in data centers. "Data center," in fact, might become anachronistic - data is everywhere, constantly on the move, seemingly always overflowing. Net...
