Improving the Efficiency of SOA-Based Applications
jhv1blz5 wrote: The article validated SOA as an IT architecture paradigm that can be leveraged in many ways. Taking data storage, scalability and application performance to a nifty level using SOA Application Grid infrastructure will no doubt enhance data and application performance on Oracle architecture platforms, it also has the promise of a cost effective and efficient IT delivery model. The very benefits of SOA.

mywaves Launches 10,000 Channel Mobile Video Service
Delivers First Personalized Entertainment Experience With Content From Comedy Central to 'Diet Coke & Mentos' Direct to Your

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- mywaves, a new mobile video company that delivers Web video entertainment directly to consumers' cell phones, today unveiled its 10,000 channel mobile video service. Through a major new software release rolled out today, mywaves can now deliver the broadest offering of on-demand content directly to the mobile phone, ranging from sources like CNN to popular Web videos such as "Ask a Ninja," as well as personal videos.

The mywaves service, which is free to consumers, works globally across all 3G carriers and most video-capable mobile phones. The company launched a beta version of their service (limited to 500 channels) in October this year. Since then, more than 20,000 users a week in 85 countries have been signing up to enjoy what's playing on mywaves. And today, the mywaves channel lineup increases to thousands by leveraging its patent-pending Web-based video syndication technology. The new capability allows mywaves to mobilize all Web entertainment, delivering thousands of channel choices to the mobile consumer.

The mywaves service is comprised of a rich, easy-to-use Web site together with software that can be easily downloaded to a mobile phone. The Web site allows consumers to discover, choose and personalize their on-the-go entertainment that is automatically delivered and updated to their mobile phones. mywaves also sends text messages alerting users to content updates in their channels, letting them know when there's something new to watch.

"Mobile video offerings today simply mirror the traditional TV broadcasting models, burdening consumers with inflexible scheduled programming, premium channels, fees and limited choice. We envision providing Web-style freedom as well as Web style entertainment on the mobile phone -- letting consumers discover and choose from thousands of video channels, whether it's professional programming, user-generated content or personal videos," said Rajeev Raman, CEO and founder of mywaves.

Due to the rapid proliferation of video-enabled mobile phones and high-speed cellular data services, coupled with the cult-like appeal of Web entertainment, industry experts predict the time is right to deliver this kind of mobile video service.

"mywaves' approach to mobile video will have great consumer appeal, especially with the young mobile market," said Ben Bajarin, analyst with Creative Strategies. "High school and college students are connected to their mobile phones 24x7, and the fact that mywaves can mobilize their favorite Web video content, delivering it directly to their mobile phones could very well change the way they choose to enjoy this content -- forever," he said.
