Cold Stone Creamery Japan Launches New Frozen Yogurt Bar

Yogurt Mix-In Machine Puts a Unique Spin on Frozen Yogurt

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cold Stone Creamery® (www.ColdStoneCreamery.com), recently launched a new yogurt concept in Japan by the name of Cold Stone® Frozen Bar. Cold Stone Frozen Bar is a fresh and better-for-you dessert concept that uses milk, yogurt and a blend of fresh fruit. Guests choose mix-ins such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, banana, mango and/or cream cheese, a favorite mix-in in Japan. After the yogurt and mix-ins are selected, the fruit and yogurt are combined and 'mixed' using the Cold Stone Creamery Yogurt Mix-In Machine. This machine blends the fruit and yogurt together creating a smooth and creamy treat that is light and refreshing.

"We are really excited to showcase this offering for the frozen dessert lovers of Japan," said Eddy Jimenez, senior vice president of international operations and development at Kahala Brands.  "It's a product that brings forth our high product quality and our Japanese guests love watching their yogurt Creation being made fresh right there on the spot.  It's been wonderful to offer another option to our guests that is low-fat and has a lower caloric count."

The first Cold Stone Frozen Bar store opened at the Aeon Mall Makuhari Shintoshin in Chiba, Japan on June 19th and is already a popular place for mall guests who are looking for a yogurt and fruit Creation. Future stores will also be located in other well-known, premier malls across the region.

"Since 2005, Cold Stone Creamery has been known here in Japan for its rich and creamy ice cream Creations," said Kazuhiro Ishihara of HotLand Corp, the parent company of the brand's master franchisee in Japan. "Our new Cold Stone Frozen Bar concept is the first of its kind. We believe it covers an even bigger customer market here in Japan since the popularity of frozen yogurt is growing quickly. Low-fat and low-calorie options are also favored by our guests."

HotLand Corp. brings over two decades of experience in the Food & Beverage industry with concepts such as Gindaco, GIN-NO-AN, Hot-ya and nine other brands spanning Japan, China, Taiwan, Thailand and Singapore.

"Adding Cold Stone Frozen Bar to the umbrella of concepts HotLand Corp. already has allowed them to leverage business connections when seeking to secure premier locations within malls," said Ishihara. "We feel the Frozen Bar concept is the perfect example of delivering another great Cold Stone Creamery offering to our wonderful consumers in Japan."

Even though it’s now Microservices Journal, long-time fans of SOA World Magazine can take comfort in the fact that the URL – soa.sys-con.com – remains unchanged.
