Budget Mobile Announces Sacramento Store Opening

New Retail Location to Provide Free Phones and Wireless Service to Families in Need

SHREVEPORT, La., Aug. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Budget Prepay, Inc., d/b/a Budget Mobile, will open its first full service retail store today in Sacramento at 2407 Northgate Boulevard. Budget offers free wireless services and phones to qualified customers under the California LifeLine Program -- a state program that provides discounted home phone and cell phone services to eligible households. Budget Mobile currently operates 16 customer service kiosks in the state.

"This is an exciting day for Budget as we open the doors of our first California brick and mortar retail location," said Chris Holderman, Budget Mobile's Vice President of Sales, West Coast. "The stores give us a real connection to not only our customers, but to the communities we serve. We are committed to the city of Sacramento and to providing California LifeLine services to families that need assistance in this community."

The Sacramento location is the first of 14 full service retail, brick and mortar stores opening throughout California, including a second Sacramento site scheduled to open within the next 60 to 90 days.

"Budget will be hiring over 250 full and part-time employees as we expand our California operations, including 12 to 14 positions for both Sacramento locations," continued Holderman. "Hiring locally is paramount to our continued success and we welcome interested Sacramento applicants with backgrounds in sales and customer service."

Budget Mobile offers discounts to qualified customers who meet certain eligibility requirements such as government assistance or a household income that is 150 percent below the federal poverty level. LifeLine is non-transferable, limited to one per household -- landline or wireless -- and cannot be combined with any other LifeLine offering.

Eligible California LifeLine customers will receive a FREE mobile phone with full talk and text capabilities, along with one of the following Budget Mobile "California Connect" service plans:

  • California Connect – 1000 minutes and unlimited texts for FREE every month
  • California Connect Unlimited – Unlimited talk and text for $17.60/month (after LifeLine discount is applied)

How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...
