Bellucci Premium Expels Misconceptions About Olive Oil

BOHEMIA, N.Y., Aug. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Some vegetable and seed companies have said in the recent past that seed oils have less saturated fat than olive oil, suggesting that those types of oils are healthier than olive oil. Bellucci Premium, a producer of Tuscan olive oil, wants consumers to know that their claims are not valid.

These companies go on to say that olive oil has double the amount of saturated fat, and although true, that does not make olive oil less healthy. Olive oil is 75 percent monounsaturated fat, which is "good" fat, and a very small percentage of olive oil is polyunsaturated, which is "bad" fat. Because of this, although fat may be higher, it is good fat that is being ingested.
