Vysk Communications Announces Encrypted Photo Gallery App

New encrypted photo gallery app protects videos and images from hackers, even on iCloud.

SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Vysk Communications announced its latest endeavor in the smartphone privacy world, the Vysk Private Gallery app. The Vysk Private Gallery app encrypts the photos and videos you want protected on your phone, as well as those you choose to store in the cloud.

With the Vysk Private Gallery app, users can transfer images and videos from their current photo gallery, or take photos using the built-in camera interface, and store them inside an encrypted, password-protected application. Users can organize photos into two separate galleries, each with a unique access PIN. A self-destruct function allows users to completely erase the entire contents of the galleries with the use of a special emergency PIN. Additional functionality includes sharing photos via social media channels, email, AirDrop and text message, without leaving the app.

The Private Gallery app is part of Vysk's new Privacy System. The System uses a combination of hardware and software to provide next-generation privacy and security. The Vysk Privacy Charging Case (EP1) starts with a hardware solution that locks down your front and back cameras with patented shutters that engage at the flick of a switch. Click them closed, and you are protected from someone capturing unauthorized photos or videos of you and your family. The software component includes the Vysk Private Gallery app and the Vysk Private Text app. The Private Text app is set to debut later this month while the photo app is scheduled for release by September 15.

The Vysk apps protect users from hackers by encrypting photos, videos, and text messages on your phone. Also, any data backed up to cloud will be safe because it is transferred as encrypted information, rather than a picture from your standard photo gallery. Even if a user's iCloud account were hacked, a cyber criminal would not be able to access the photos or videos stored within the app.

"The EP1 Privacy System was specifically designed to combat things like photo hacking," said Victor Cocchia, CEO of Vysk Communications. "This isn't just an issue for celebrities anymore. It has become a common tactic for cyber bullying, cyber stalkers, and worse."

The Vysk Gallery app is available for free when you purchase an EP1 Privacy Case. The EP1 case, which also doubles your phone's battery life, retails for $119.99 and is available now in red, blue, gold, and black on Vysk.com

The EP1 Privacy Case is available for iPhone® 5/5S. The Vysk Private Gallery app and Vysk Private Text app will be available for iOS version 7.0 and later.

The Internet of Things promises to transform businesses (and lives), but navigating the business and technical path to success can be difficult to understand. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Sean Lorenz, Technical Product Manager for Xively at LogMeIn, demonstrated how to approach creating broadly successful connected customer solutions using real world business transformation studies including New England BioLabs and more.
The Internet of Things will greatly expand the opportunities for data collection and new business models driven off of that data. In her session at @ThingsExpo, Esmeralda Swartz, CMO of MetraTech, discussed how for this to be effective you not only need to have infrastructure and operational models capable of utilizing this new phenomenon, but increasingly service providers will need to convince a skeptical public to participate. Get ready to show them the money!
How do APIs and IoT relate? The answer is not as simple as merely adding an API on top of a dumb device, but rather about understanding the architectural patterns for implementing an IoT fabric. There are typically two or three trends: Exposing the device to a management framework Exposing that management framework to a business centric logic Exposing that business layer and data to end users. This last trend is the IoT stack, which involves a new shift in the separation of what stuff happe...
WebRTC defines no default signaling protocol, causing fragmentation between WebRTC silos. SIP and XMPP provide possibilities, but come with considerable complexity and are not designed for use in a web environment. The definition of IoT is not new, in fact it’s been around for over a decade. What has changed is the public's awareness that the technology we use on a daily basis has caught up on the vision of an always on, always connected world. If you look into the details of what comprises the IoT, you’ll see that it includes everything from cloud computing, Big Data analytics, “Things,” Web communication, applications, network, storage, etc. It is essentially including everything connected online from ha...
The Internet of Things is tied together with a thin strand that is known as time. Coincidentally, at the core of nearly all data analytics is a timestamp. In his session at Internet of @ThingsExpo, Jim Scott, Director of Enterprise Strategy & Architecture at MapR Technologies, discussed single-value, geo-spatial, and log time series dat...
