2015 dE Souza Collection Debuts on Horse Carriages in Central Park

NEW YORK, Sept. 3, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Two of the city's most treasured traditions united this evening as Fashion Week and New York's horse-drawn carriages joined together to debut Victor dE Souza's 2015 collection on a moving runway through Central Park.

International Brotherhood of Teamsters.

Models rode in the back of the iconic Central Park horse-drawn carriages, wearing dE Souza's newest designs. The master of modern day couture's clients include Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Madonna, Cher, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Cindy Lauper, Janelle Monae, Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Patricia Field, and numerous socialites.

"Horse-drawn carriages have been a part of the beautiful cityscape that is New York for more than 150 years," dE Souza said. "I was honored to premiere my designs with something that represents this city's proud history."

The horse-carriage drivers seamlessly integrated into the fashion show, donning their traditional coats, tails and top hats. The models wore extravagant gowns specifically designed to match the grandeur of the classic carriages.

"It was a fantastic event that I was proud to be a part of," said carriage driver and association leader Stephen Malone. "Two New York City traditions came together seamlessly tonight, with a beautiful result."

By bringing his creations out into the public, dE Souza invited every New Yorker to his fashion show.

Tahor Group, who planned the event, is a fashion advisory firm led by Tobi Rubinstein Schneier and Nancy Torres. Tahor Group plans for this to be a biyearly event to coincide with Fashion Week.

Teamsters Joint Council 16 represents 120,000 workers across downstate New York, including the workers in Central Park's horse-drawn carriage industry.
