Leading Architectural Firm Now Has 16 Offices Across North America; Industry Veteran Bill Sotomayor To Head NYC Office

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced the opening of a New York City office located at 18 West 18th Street, 11th Floor in Manhattan. The new office, which will focus on interior architecture and design, brings the total number of Ware Malcomb offices in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Panama to 16. Ware Malcomb also announced that Bill Sotomayor has joined the firm as Regional Director to lead the New York City office, combining his vast regional knowledge and expertise with Ware Malcomb's expanding presence on the East Coast. In this new role, Sotomayor will manage the New York City office and oversee business development and client relationships.

"Ware Malcomb has been active in New York City for many years, and with a dedicated office we look forward to expanding that presence significantly," said Lawrence R. Armstrong, Chief Executive Officer of Ware Malcomb. "Manhattan is a unique market with a high level of client expectations and challenges. With a proven track record of client-focused work and successful operations growth, we are confident Bill is the right leader to take Ware Malcomb's New York City business to new heights."

2014 has been a year of significant growth for Ware Malcomb.  The firm's New Jersey office, which opened in 2005 and has managed hundreds of projects in 21 states across the Eastern U.S., recently announced an expansion into a new larger office space. In April, Ware Malcomb acquired a Seattle-based architecture firm, establishing a presence in the Pacific Northwest.

Sotomayor brings a wealth of architectural and management experience to his new role at Ware Malcomb. In 1995, Sotomayor established Manhattan-based TSC Design, which provided architectural and interior design services to corporate, retail, publishing, media and law firm clients. He expanded the firm to New Jersey, opening an office there in 2005, and grew TSC Design to a 100-person operation. Sotomayor later sold and merged his company with a large architectural design firm in New York in 2011.

Sotomayor graduated from the New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He is a founding member of the Knights of York, a New York City-based nonprofit organization comprised of business leaders devoted to contributing services and donations to help children in need. Sotomayor is also a Board Member and past Chairman of the National Hispanic Business Group, and a member of CoreNet and the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).
