NEW YORK, Sept. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- A woman in California has been arrested for workers' compensation fraud after authorities saw video of her walking in high heels in a beauty pageant, reported Fox News (California Woman Arrested for Worker's Comp Fraud After Competing in Beauty Pageants, August 13, 2014). Shawna Lynn Parker reportedly claimed she was unable to work as a store clerk due to a foot injury that prevented her from being able to put any weight on her foot or wear shoes at all, but was then later spotted walking across a stage at the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix contest.
Palmer then allegedly went back to a doctor and received crutches, only to compete in a second contest later. Byron Tucker, California's deputy insurance commissioner, was quoted as saying that social media made it not difficult to track down the fraud and make the arrest. Palmer was allegedly charged with three felony counts of defrauding an insurance company and could face up to one year in jail, three years probation, and restitution of $24,000.
"It never ceases to amaze me the things people think they can get away with," said Adnan Munawar, Partner at Munawar & Andrews-Santillo LLP. "The audacity is takes to claim that one is unable to walk or wear shoes and then allow people to film her walking in high heels is simply incomprehensible. What is most unfortunate is that when people commit dishonest acts, it puts the integrity of the whole workers' compensation system into question, and claims can become that much harder for honest people who are injured on the job."
"Some states respond by making their claims processes more burdensome, which can prove to be quite difficult to navigate for someone who has never done it before, especially when he or she is injured. When you are hurt, you should contact an experienced attorney right away so you can get your benefits as quickly as possible and focus on your recovery. The added stress of fighting a claim on your own is overwhelming and placing your claim in the hands of the right expert can be one of the best decisions you could make. The consultation is free, and you only ever pay a fee if your claim is successful, so there is truly no reason not to pick up the phone and find out what your rights are under the law and how to protect them."
"If your or a loved one has suffered an injury or worse caused by the performance of a job, contact a New York Workers' Compensation lawyer to receive information about the workers' compensation claim process and get your claims started right away."

Over the years, a variety of methodologies have emerged in order to overcome the challenges related to project constraints. The successful use of each methodology seems highly context-dependent. However, communication seems to be the common denominator of the many challenges that project management methodologies intend to resolve. In this respect, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can be viewed as powerful tools for managing projects. Few research papers have focused on the way...

As the world moves from DevOps to NoOps, application deployment to the cloud ought to become a lot simpler. However, applications have been architected with a much tighter coupling than it needs to be which makes deployment in different environments and migration between them harder. The microservices architecture, which is the basis of many new age distributed systems such as OpenStack, Netflix and so on is at the heart of CloudFoundry – a complete developer-oriented Platform as a Service (PaaS...
