Apigee Extends the Power of Predictive Analytics to All Developers

New Version of Apigee Insights 'Wraps' Predictive Analytics in APIs -- Empowers Mainstream Developers to Build Adaptive Apps

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/10/14 -- I LOVE APIS -- Apigee®, developer of the leading platform for digital acceleration, today announced a new version of the Apigee Insights big data platform that enables any developer to build smart, API-driven "adaptive" apps using predictive analytics. With Apigee Insights, Apigee is making advanced data science accessible to mainstream developers.

"Big data intelligence is of little value until it is embedded in the apps we love and use -- and it is up to the developer to make that happen," said Anant Jhingran, head of products at Apigee. "Apigee Insights 'wraps' contextual insights in APIs so developers can integrate highly sophisticated, time-based predictions into apps. Going beyond business intelligence dashboards to use predictive analytics offers a competitive advantage in the data-driven digital world, and Apigee Insights now makes it much easier for any enterprise to do this."

Despite recent advances in big data technologies, few customer-facing apps effectively use predictive analytics to improve digital experiences. With Apigee Insights, developers -- including developers without specialized expertise -- can now embed predictive analytics into their apps via APIs. Combined with backend-as-a-service (BaaS), and Node.js, any developer can use APIs to build adaptive apps powered by predictive analytics to deliver digital experiences tailored to individual customer needs.

Advanced graph analytics for any enterprise

Built on GRASP (Graph and Sequence processing) technology, Apigee Insights' unique capabilities stem from its ability to apply machine learning and graph and sequence processing on all customer interaction data, including structured, unstructured and API data.

Apigee Insights now features new graph visualization tools that allow data analysts to explore the common events and time-based behavior of their customers. Armed with this intelligence about each customer's "digital journey," enterprises can build API-driven adaptive apps that deliver hyper-personalized, contextual, and consistent experiences that delight customers and accelerate business growth.

For example, a company can use Apigee Insights to analyze all prior interactions across Web, mobile, call center, in-store, and other channels to generate propensity scores for various digital marketing offers based on different weather conditions. Then, developers can use these predictions via APIs to build adaptive apps for any channel. Using the adaptive app, the company can, on a sunny day, encourage a customer to walk into the store by delivering a push notification for an in-store coupon that is valid for a specified duration. On the other hand, on a rainy day, the company can recommend free shipping with mobile purchase to accelerate conversion.

"'Prediction is power.' It's the power all firms need to strengthen their BT [Business Technology] agenda, helping them transform their technology, systems, and processes to win, serve, and retain customers. Predictive analytics is a key capability to make better decisions, avoid risks, and create differentiated, more individualized customer experiences," wrote Mike Gualtieri, Forrester.(1)

In addition to Apigee Insights, Apigee also offers Apigee Edge, an industry-leading API platform. With Apigee Edge and Apigee Insights, Apigee empowers organizations to accelerate and extend their business into the new digital world using APIs and data - the core constructs of any digital strategy.

Apigee Insights is available today as a software-and-services offering, deployed in the cloud or on premises. For more information about Apigee Insights, visit the Apigee website at http://apigee.com/about/products/big-data-and-insights.

DevOps is often described as a combination of technology and culture. Without both, DevOps isn't complete.
