BEIJING, Jan. 3 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- ChinaCache, the leading content distribution network (CDN) service provider in China, today announced that the total capacity of its nationwide CDN network reached 100Gbps by the end of 2006. This marks yet another historical milestone in the development of ChinaCache's CDN network and further demonstrates its capability in network construction.

As an important measurement of CDN network, this milestone represents the maturity and the solidness of ChinaCache's CDN network. It further illustrates ChinaCache's ability in CDN network design, operation and management. Through its network development experience in the past six years, ChinaCache has established an effective network construction process to ensure high efficiency in network load balance, node and equipment selections, node testing and maintenance.

The new milestone will also enable ChinaCache to better serve more than 100 of its blue-chip customers with sufficient bandwidth and enhanced service quality. The network now can effectively meet customer demands for rich media applications such as upload and download of music, games, pictures, videos, large file transfer and online storage.

"That our total network capacity tops 100 Gbps not only represents an important milestone for ChinaCache, it also signifies that the CDN network development in China has entered into a new era," commented Wang Song, Chief Executive Officer of ChinaCache. "The explosive growth of Internet industry in China in recent years has created a much greater demand for CDN services. ChinaCache has answered the call with a solid CDN network build-out and with quality solutions and services for its customers.

"As the old Chinese saying goes: 'A journey of thousands of miles begins with a single step.' I firmly believe we have taken a giant step toward the right direction in our journey to promote CDN services in China. With CDN to play a more important role in the development of Internet in China, ChinaCache will continue its effort in building a quality CDN network with high coverage, efficiency and security," Wang continued.
