Bunchball Congratulates RMH for Prestigious Constellation SuperNova Award

Second Largest Applebee's Franchisee in the United States Honored for Leadership in "Consumerization of IT & The New C-Suite"

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 12/04/14 -- Bunchball, the pioneer and market leader in gamification today congratulates RMH Franchise Corporation, the second largest Applebee's franchisee in the United States, for being honored by Constellation Research Inc. with a SuperNova Award. The Constellation SuperNova Awards recognize leaders who have successfully and innovatively overcome the challenges of introducing new technologies to their organizations. Constellation is a research and advisory firm that helps clients dominate digital disruption.

RMH's award-winning technology implementation is the gamified employee engagement program "Bee Block," which was acknowledged along with Robin Jenkins, regional marketing manager at RMH, for leadership in the category of "Consumerization of IT & The New C-Suite." This award category honors technology adoptions that are simple, scalable and sexy, but also balance organizational needs for safety, security and sustainability. As technology has increasingly democratized across organizations, companies that are harnessing innovative consumer technologies, while still addressing risk and regulatory concerns are the IT leaders who are effectively preparing their businesses for the future.

In 2013, RMH began a rapid growth trajectory, and increased the number of locations from 40 to more than 120 in just 12 months. In the midst of this growth, RMH faced a new challenge: How to engage and retain its staff of 9,000 hourly employees. Employee turnover in the restaurant/food service industry is typically very high and RMH knew how important retaining its employees was to the health and profitability of its business. In order to update its approach to employee retention, RMH determined it needed a new solution and began exploring the idea of incorporating gamification. The organization evaluated several providers and ultimately selected Bunchball, the market leader in gamification. Bunchball's Nitro is a data-driven motivation platform that leverages big data analytics, personalization and transparency to provide goals, recognition, real-time feedback on progress, and rewards that matters to employees, all of which RMH recognized as the innovative techniques they needed to connect with and engage employees.

In early 2014 RMH launched a pilot of "Bee Block" at three locations. The initial program was so successful that it has now rolled Bee Block out to all 138 of its restaurants and introduced a mobile application program. RMH has made impressive strides with "Bee Block," including being able to tap into the motivations of its hourly workforce to improve both employee engagement and retention. Early results in June 2014 showed a solid reduction in employee turnover. Additionally, Bunchball's gamification platform has proven to be a scalable, adaptable and responsive solution, which has been essential to helping RMH foster closer connections with employees and management.

Comments on the news:
"The leadership demonstrated by each of the SuperNova Award winners is inspirational. Keep an eye on them--not only can these people keep up with the rapid pace of technological change, they can lead entire organizations to follow these changes. These are the leaders who are making the promise of technology a reality for the enterprise and consequently, the rest of society," said R "Ray" Wang, chairman and founder of Constellation Research, Inc.

"Shepherding the growth and sophistication of gamification solutions for Fortune 2000 companies has been a very rewarding process for Bunchball during the almost decade since we first launched our Nitro platform," said Rajat Paharia, founder and chief product officer, Bunchball. "RMH in particular is a great example of how gamification, when done well and with clear business objectives in mind, can drive incredible results."

"By providing real-time feedback and transparency amongst hourly employees and their managers, gamification creates immediate, measurable impact throughout our entire organization," said Robin Jenkins, regional marketing manager, RMH Franchise Corporation. "The very nature of gamification, and the ability the Nitro platform has given us to design a scalable engagement program that drives individual and management goals alike, has been transformative for our business and we are thrilled to share this honor with all 9,000 of our employees."

Signs of a shift in the usage of public clouds are everywhere. Previously, as organizations outgrew old IT methods, the natural answer was to try the public cloud approach; however, the public platform alone is not a complete solution. Complaints include unpredictable/escalating costs and mounting security concerns in the public cloud. Ultimately, public cloud adoption can ultimately mean a shift of IT pains instead of a resolution. That's why the move to hybrid, custom, and multi-cloud will ...

While a hybrid cloud can ease that transition, designing and deploy that hybrid cloud still offers challenges for organizations concerned about lack of available cloud skillsets within their organization. Managed service providers offer a unique opportunity to fill those gaps and get organizations of all sizes on a hybrid cloud that meets their comfort level, while delivering enhanced benefits for cost, efficiency, agility, mobility, and elasticity.
Serverless Computing or Functions as a Service (FaaS) is gaining momentum. Amazon is fueling the innovation by expanding Lambda to edge devices and content distribution network. IBM, Microsoft, and Google have their own FaaS offerings in the public cloud. There are over half-a-dozen open source serverless projects that are getting the attention of developers.
If you are part of the cloud development community, you certainly know about “serverless computing,” almost a misnomer. Because it implies there are no servers which is untrue. However the servers are hidden from the developers. This model eliminates operational complexity and increases developer productivity. We came from monolithic computing to client-server to services to microservices to the serverless model. In other words, our systems have slowly “dissolved” from monolithic to function-...
Docker is sweeping across startups and enterprises alike, changing the way we build and ship applications. It's the most prominent and widely known software container platform, and it's particularly useful for eliminating common challenges when collaborating on code (like the "it works on my machine" phenomenon that most devs know all too well). With Docker, you can run and manage apps side-by-side - in isolated containers - resulting in better compute density. It's something that many developer...

When a company wants to develop an application, it must worry about many aspects: selecting the infrastructure, building the technical stack, defining the storage strategy, configuring networks, setting up monitoring and logging, and on top of that, the company needs to worry about high availability, flexibility, scalability, data processing, machine learning, etc. Going to the cloud infrastructure can help you solving these problems to a level, but what if we have a better way to do things. ...
