NEW YORK, January 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Answers Corporation , creator of Answers.com(TM), updated investors today on its ongoing progress and plans for 2007.
"We are pleased that our traffic has bounced back and exceeded pre-holiday levels," said Bob Rosenschein, CEO of Answers.com. "In fact, for the week ending January 13, according to the research firm Hitwise, a leading competitive intelligence service, we achieved our highest weekly rank to date, as the 134th most popular website visited by US Internet users worldwide, based on market share of visits (not absolute traffic). This compares to our rank of 165 just three months ago and is noteworthy."
Among recent improvements to the site:
- AnswerTips(TM)-enabling all results pages. Answers.com visitors can now double-click on any word on the site to look it up. This feature will shortly be available to bloggers and webmasters for use on their own sites.
- The addition of approximately 20 new content titles, including encyclopedias of company histories, contemporary fashion, espionage, intelligence and security, American history, and children's health. In addition, there are another 16 titles in the pipeline.
- The addition of timely news-oriented videos on the home page, through a partnership with BroadbandEnterprises.com.
The company is in the process of integrating FAQ Farm(TM), now called WikiAnswers(TM), a community-based question-and-answer site using the "wiki" approach of developing answers that the community constantly improves. This staged integration should be evident toward the end of Q1.
