EUGENE, Ore., Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Palo Alto Software today announced that its president and founder, Tim Berry, has received the Corporate Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE). Tim received the award by unanimous decision at the USASBE/SBI 2007 Conference held in Orlando, Florida earlier this month.
"Tim Berry has not only founded an extremely entrepreneurial organization but he has been helpful to entrepreneurship professors and business people alike by providing the most useful tools for business plan development and evaluation currently available," said Shawn Carraher, division chairman of Corporate Entrepreneurship, USASBE. "As both the founder of a business and an endowed chair in business, I have found his software to be the best in the marketplace and I encourage the utilization of the software to educate students from all backgrounds and for business people interested in starting a business -- whether within or outside of a traditional corporate structure. Without question, we are happy to have bestowed upon Tim Berry this award from the USASBE."
USASBE was founded in 1957 as the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) at the time. Its mission was to serve as a comprehensive organization of outstanding researchers, scholars, teachers, administrators, and public policy makers interested in entrepreneurship and small business.
As the organization grew, members decided to form national affiliates, and the U.S. affiliate was established in 1981. In 1985, the name was changed to the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE).
"It's all about what can help a business remain upright and doing everything we can to keep the stream of new ideas and perspectives moving forward," said Tim Berry, president and founder of Palo Alto Software. "It's an honor to have been chosen to receive the Corporate Entrepreneur of the Year award from USASBE."
USASBE is an eclectic group of government officials, directors of small business development centers, and academics in fields like finance, marketing, management, and economics united by their common interest in entrepreneurship and small business.
As leaders in their fields, they are making an impact on government policy and on the development of small business and entrepreneurship. USASBE's forward-looking members are determined to remain on the cutting edge of research; they are extending the field of knowledge and shaping entrepreneurial thinking for the 21st century.
