Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

TheFind.com Launches 'Find Similar Items' Tool That Allows Shoppers To Organize Millions of Products Into Custom Catalogs
One-click feature returns targeted results of related products and customizes the search experience

By: PR Newswire
Feb. 28, 2007 01:00 PM

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- TheFind, Inc. (http://www.thefind.com/) today launched "Find Similar Items," a tool that provides further personalization to the daunting task of searching the Internet for products. The new feature gives users the power to easily discover items that are similar to products they've already found which match their personal style and taste. There's no longer a need to visit multiple sites or type multiple keywords, and the product results can be viewed side-by-side in an organized fashion.

"TheFind.com always listens to its customers when building new features, and our customers like to shop efficiently," said Siva Kumar, co-founder and CEO of TheFind.com. "'Find Similar Items' was born out of the need for shoppers to quickly hone in on products they like, without having to continuously devise new and creative ways to describe products using complex search terms. We are giving shoppers the power to shop the entire Web while simultaneously narrowing in on products that suit each shopper's personal taste and style."

The "Find Similar Items" feature will help shoppers quickly sift through the more than 500,000 stores and 150 million products indexed by TheFind.com. For example, the search term "women's pumps" returns over 77,000 women's pumps. Using the new feature, a shopper in the market for "platform peep-toe pumps" simply clicks on the "Find Similar Items" button next to a favored search result, and TheFind.com returns just over 6,000 similarly-styled shoes. The corresponding lists of top brands and top styles also adjust accordingly. "Find Similar Items" gives shoppers the ability to quickly refine their search results and enjoy the discovery process of shopping for lifestyle goods such as home and garden, apparel, accessories, and children's products.

About TheFind.com

TheFind.com debuted in October 2006 as a discovery shopping search engine that delivers a comprehensive, relevant and visually compelling shopping experience optimized for lifestyle products. Unlike traditional comparison shopping sites, TheFind.com provides the largest product selection emphasizing leading styles, brands and stores and the ability to browse and search for similar items. TheFind.com crawls the entire Web, using its "Product Ranking Engine" technology to rank more than 150 million products from more 500,000 stores based on market supply and demand indicators. The result is that any search will return custom-catalog results where consumers can search-to-browse and intelligently navigate the web's massive product offerings. TheFind.com, headquartered in Mountain View, Calif., is backed by the leading venture capital firms Redpoint Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners.
