The conference attracts over 1,000 healthcare providers from 145 hospitals and long-term care facilities in Maryland, D.C. and northern Virginia. VeriChip expects to enroll additional hospitals and physicians in its VeriMed Patient Identification System network through the conference.

The Maryland Patient Safety Center was created by the Maryland Health Care Commission in 2004 to develop and implement strategies to improve the safety of patient care in Maryland.
