Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Radio Shack ID Theft Issues Not a Surprise According to Jim Stickley, ID Theft Expert
Radio Shack One of Thousands of Organizations That Allegedly Dispose of Consumers' Personal Records By Dumping Them Into Trash B

By: PR Newswire
Apr. 3, 2007 06:31 PM

BATON ROUGE, La., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- TraceSecurity, a leading provider of on-demand security compliance management solutions, announced today its chief technology officer and America's most successful "ID thief," is available as a resource regarding the Radio Shack identity breach. According to documents filed Monday, April 2, 2007 by the Attorney General, RadioShack violated a 2005 law requiring businesses to protect any consumer records that contain sensitive information, including Social Security and bank account numbers. The investigation was launched after reports indicated company employees dumped bulk customer records in garbage containers behind the store. According to investigators, the records contained sensitive consumer information, including Social Security numbers, credit and debit card information, names, addresses, and telephone numbers.

"In this day and age it's hard to imagine anyone who hasn't heard about the risks of identity theft and it's no wonder the State of Texas is attempting to come down so hard on Radio Shack," said Jim Stickley, CTO and co-founder of TraceSecurity. This was simply the complete disregard of their customers privacy and confidential information. What is most ironic is that Radio Shack sells shredders aimed at helping people protect their identity at home. I would like to say that I am surprised but unfortunately we see this type of behavior happen routinely in general business. I would hope this suit brings the attention needed to this major information security threat."

With thousands of successful identity theft scams performed for his clients, Jim Stickley is arguably America's most successful "ID thief." Jim Stickley and his company, TraceSecurity, are paid by organizations to audit their policies, procedures and technology for weaknesses an ID thief might exploit to capture their customers' personally identifiable information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, driver license numbers, etc.
