LOS ANGELES, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/10/07 -- The inaugural Celebrity Invitational Golf Classic and awards banquet benefiting The Salvation Army in Southern California will be held on Thursday, May 31 at Trump National Golf Club in Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.

Celebrity players are expected to include Magic Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, Penny Marshall, Marcus Allen, Kenny Rogers, Robert Wagner, Bob Saget, Peter Gallagher, Keith Carradine, Gary Sinise, Eric Dickerson, Kevin Sorbo, Reggie Jackson, Kevin Nealon, Richard Karn, Elton Brand, Sam Cassell, Michael Strahan, Dwyane Wade and Joe Mantegna.

The Golf Classic will help The Salvation Army fulfill its commitment to meet the growing needs of families, youth, men, women and children throughout Southern California, offering a "hand-up" instead of a "hand-out" to all who turn to the organization at a critical moment in their lives, often as a last resort. 2007 marks the 120th anniversary of The Salvation Army in Los Angeles.

Foursomes are available for $10,000 each, with every foursome assigned a fifth celebrity player. Tournament participants will arrive and register at 9 a.m., with a shotgun start promptly at 11 a.m. The tournament format is "Two Man Modified Best Ball" of fivesomes with full handicap, which will allow everyone to play a full round of golf.

As players conclude their rounds, refreshments will be served in the clubhouse. There will be dinner and entertainment, and the presentation of awards immediately following the tournament. Former Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan will be honored for his undying dedication to serving the people and improving the lives of everyone within his influence.
