The Mercantile Group Produces Results with Datavantage/CommercialWare's CWSerenade
Growing Provider of Hockey Apparel and Equipment Implements Scalable, Java Cross Channel Order Management System

By: PR Newswire

NATICK, Mass., April 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Datavantage/CommercialWare, a wholly owned subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc. , and leading provider of retail technology for the specialty and general merchandise retail industry, today announced that its CWSerenade solution is providing The Mercantile Group with integrated cross-channel order management, as well as improved customer service and fulfillment functionality. With these new capabilities, The Mercantile Group is able to quickly accept and fulfill diverse sporting goods orders.

The Mercantile Group consists of three companies: Pure Hockey, specialty retail hockey stores; Sport Warehouse, discount sports apparel stores; and North Atlantic Distribution. It is the exclusive distributor of Bauer from Nike and CCM from Reebok for hockey equipment to regional specialty sporting goods stores in North America. "Commitment to customer service is our number one priority and we are constantly striving to increase our response to meet the customers' needs," said William Craig, president, The Mercantile Group. "Implementing CWSerenade has automated many of our processes, further improved our order fulfillment times and therefore had a positive impact on overall customer service. We see Datavantage/CommercialWare as a key partner in achieving these goals having worked one-on-one with its experienced staff to implement a solution tailored to our business needs."

CWSerenade is a Java-based, feature-rich solution with seven comprehensive modules designed to flexibly address the cross-channel retailer's need for order management, fulfillment, customer service, warehousing/inventory control, merchandising, marketing and finance. These modules share a common database that provides real-time visibility to all customer and inventory information through the entire transaction lifecycle. They further allow the retailer to collect and manage transaction details real-time, making information available which provides for a channel transparent experience for the customer.

For The Mercantile Group, CWSerenade has streamlined the order placement and fulfillment process with unique pick forms for warehouse staff, enhanced efficiencies with item creation and management for dynamic 2,000-plus SKUs (stock keeping unit), as well as improved accurate inventory control and customer billing. Known for its deep expertise in the hockey market, The Mercantile Group and North Atlantic Distribution implemented the CWSerenade solution to efficiently support the continuing growth of the company while simultaneously improving the experience of their customers. CWSerenade is allowing The Mercantile Group team to respond, in real-time, to the status of each customer order; providing customers better visibility into inventory availability before orders are completed; and creating efficiency for warehouse workers fulfilling the orders through customized pick forms.

"CWSerenade is a functionally robust, technologically flexible offering that demonstrates our commitment to provide customers with solutions that address their business needs. Its flexibility gives retailers confidence as they look for solutions that will grow with their business over time," said Jane Cannon, chief operating officer at CommercialWare.
