PARIS -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/26/07 -- NewspaperDirect Inc. announced that The Straits
Times, one of the most respected and influential newspapers in the Asia
region, has been added to NewspaperDirect's growing number of world
newspapers in its global distribution network. The Straits Times will be
made available around the world in luxury hotels, libraries, retail shops,
on cruise ships, yachts and airlines and through home-delivery services
supported by NewspaperDirect's 100 licensed partners with 1,200 print
stations in over 90 countries.
The Straits Times will also be available online every day on
NewspaperDirect's PressDisplay.com site, the world's
largest online newspaper kiosk, as well as through its popular Library and
Corporate PressDisplay channels.
This brings to 500 the total number of publications available through
NewspaperDirect's distribution network, which processes titles ranging from
local newspapers to national publications, originating from 73 countries in
38 languages. This year, the company has released 77 new titles and
anticipates hitting the 600 mark before the end of the year.
"NewspaperDirect has the technology and global network to enable us to
reach our readers -- wherever and whenever they want access to their
newspaper," said Han Fook Kwang, editor of The Straits Times. "With
NewspaperDirect, our overseas readers can enjoy either a rich online
experience or a print product if that's what they prefer."
Alexander Kroogman, CEO, NewspaperDirect, said: "The rapidly growing number
of titles joining NewspaperDirect is an acknowledgement of the service
benefits provided by our technology and our advanced online, mobile and
print offerings."
Mr. Kroogman noted that the service required no incremental effort on the
part of The Straits Times. "They just send NewspaperDirect the PDFs that
they are already sending to their print site, and we handle everything
else."
He added: "Once publishers see what we can provide, they quickly realize
that by partnering with NewspaperDirect, they can enhance their content
delivery capabilities while adding value for readers and advertisers."
