Lim’s comments were made at a press conference announcing Sun’s partnership with the Mapua Institute of Technology and the University of the Philippines for Sun’s Java Competency program. With the help of Sun Microsystems Philippines, Inc., and other private sector partners, the schools will encourage the development of Java skills in business and research. In addition to the Philippines, the competency program named Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Cambodia as participants. These countries will be included in manpower development initiatives to form a Java Ring in the area, providing consultancy and apps development services to the global market.
