Improving the Efficiency of SOA-Based Applications
jhv1blz5 wrote: The article validated SOA as an IT architecture paradigm that can be leveraged in many ways. Taking data storage, scalability and application performance to a nifty level using SOA Application Grid infrastructure will no doubt enhance data and application performance on Oracle architecture platforms, it also has the promise of a cost effective and efficient IT delivery model. The very benefits of SOA.

LG Electronics Unveils Complete Steam Laundry System Including the Introduction of SteamDryer(TM)
New Stainless Steel SteamDryer Joins Award-Winning SteamWasher Offering Unique Functionality and Performance

By: PR Newswire
May. 7, 2007 12:15 PM

LAS VEGAS, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Expanding its unique steam laundering system, LG Electronics today introduced its first stainless steel laundry pair including a SteamWasher(TM) and LG's first SteamDryer(TM).

The LG SteamDryer offers innovative features such as the SteamFresh(TM) cycle that reduces wrinkles and removes odors from clothing. This new dryer joins LG's award-winning SteamWasher line that entered the market last year, and now offers consumers a complete steam laundry care option. The new steam set is available in a variety of colors including white, red and new stainless steel.

"Since making its debut last year, the LG SteamWasher has captured the attention of consumers with its enhanced cleaning performance, outstanding water and energy efficiency and our SteamFresh function that reduces wrinkles and refreshes dry clothing. These advances in laundry help make their lives easier and more productive," said John Herrington, president, LG Electronics USA, Inc. Digital Appliances. "LG, which pioneered this new concept of clothing care, is excited to now extend this advanced functionality to the dryer -- and provide consumers with a full steam clothing care option."

THE STEAMDRYER

Utilizing LG's patented built-in steam generator, the LG SteamDryer delivers additional steam capabilities when compared to the popular LG SteamWasher. For example, the larger, 7.3 cubic-foot capacity now allows consumers to steam more garments as well as large bulky items such as comforters. The consumer has the choice of selecting the SteamFresh Cycle to freshen clothes and reduce wrinkles, the Easy Iron Option to dampen clothes in preparation for ironing or the Static Reduction Option which produces more comfortable, static free garments.

The SteamDryer boasts the same popular SteamFresh(TM) cycle as the LG SteamWasher. This unique, steam-only cycle, powered by the LG Steam Generator, which injects steam via a pump and cartridge system into the tub, freshens and reduces wrinkles on dry clothing without water. The result is less ironing and fewer trips to the dry cleaner for the consumer.

THE STEAMWASHER

The LG SteamWasher is an industry-first product that features revolutionary steam cleaning technology to help reduce wrinkles and deep clean laundry for brighter whites and more vibrant colors, while also enabling higher energy efficiency and water conservation when compared to traditional machines.

As with the new dryer, LG SteamWasher converts water into steam to deliver superior cleaning power for outstanding performance and energy efficiency. This unit is among the most efficient washers available and uses less water than other full-size models on the market. With the steam function activated, the washer uses 12.8 gallons of water per wash cycle as compared to 13.8 for traditional front-loading machines, thereby meeting a growing demand from today's consumers for more energy-efficient home appliances.

Steam can be incorporated into the wash cycle in one of two ways. The first is through the SteamWash(TM) function, which feeds hot steam particles into the top of the wash drum through a spray nozzle. The steam deeply penetrates the fabrics to remove dirt and stubborn stains and dissolve cleaning agents better, improving total wash performance while increasing energy and water savings. The second option is the SteamFresh cycle that is also a feature in the new dryer. Combined these two products offer a unique technologically-advanced clothing care option for consumers.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

The LG Stainless Steel Steam Laundry pair will be available in the third quarter of 2007 at a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $3,499 for the washer and $3,499 for the dryer. Matching Stainless Steel laundry pedestals will also be available with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $499 each.

The LG SteamDryer will also be available in the third quarter of this year in white and wild cherry finishes. Manufacturer's suggested retail prices range from $1,149 to $1,399.

Consumers have the option to select the SteamWasher and SteamDryer separately or purchase the complete set. The benefit of owning both the SteamWasher and Dryer is that the consumer can now have an energy efficient total fabric care solution.

REMOTE MONITOR READY

The LG Steam laundry line also is compatible with the award-winning LG Remote Monitoring System. Designed to enable consumers to keep track of the cycle's progress and help reduce repeated trips to the laundry room, a remote monitor device plugs into any electrical outlet in the home and communicates with the washer and dryer via Power Line Communication (PLC) technology. The LG Remote Monitoring Laundry accessory package is available now for $99.
