On2 Flix Publisher Live is designed to give user generated sites, social networking sites and broadband video publishers the ability to deploy live video services easily, quickly, and affordably through integrating live publishing capabilities directly into their web pages. For users of the website, Publisher Live offers a simple one-click operation on a web page to create live streams directly from a user's desktop. The streams are encoded in the popular On2 VP6 for Flash format on the user's desktop and streamed to the service providers' Flash Media Servers for immediate broadcast over the Internet.

For service providers, Publisher Live streamlines the publishing workflow, eliminating transcoding infrastructure and upstream bandwidth costs, as well as any latency in publishing live content to their audiences. The straight-forward user interface simplifies the process of live video streaming, addressing the growing mass market for live user generated content, video podcasts, and time sensitive content such as news and sports.

Publisher Live follows on the heels of On2's popular Flix Publisher 2.0, which similarly allows file based encoding and publishing of On2 VP6 for Flash based content right on a user's desktop through a simple browser based drag and drop operation. Flix Publisher 2.0 has been deployed by large media companies and innovative service providers for on-demand applications. Publisher Live expands the service options to live broadcast applications, user interactivity, and user generated video commentary.
