PRINCETON, N.J., May 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. today announced the signing of contracts for hosting and Internet Protocol Telephony (IPT) with Rockwood Holdings, Inc., a global family of specialty chemicals and advanced materials businesses. The contracts add to the portfolio of telecommunications services that AT&T has provided for Rockwood for the past five years. Specific terms of the new agreements were not disclosed.
AT&T designed hosting and disaster-recovery capabilities to provide Rockwood with more advanced solutions to protect the company's critical business data and applications. These services were previously managed 100 percent in-house by Rockwood. Under the hosting contract, Rockwood will store critical data at one of AT&T's temperature-controlled, secure Internet Data Centers (IDCs), which are monitored around the clock, 365 days a year. AT&T IP-enable Frame Relay and enhanced Virtual Private Network (VPN) services will create a fully meshed network and offer reliable communication between the IDC and Rockwood business locations.
The Internet Protocol Telephony contract will deliver greater flexibility and expanded capabilities, compared with a conventional voice platform. The new IPT system will allow Rockwood to link employees' offices and to integrate voice mail, instant messaging and live phone calls at a lower cost than with traditional telephony.
"We are pleased to expand our business with AT&T," said Mark Yankowskas, Chief Information Officer of Rockwood Holdings, Inc. "For the past five years, AT&T has delivered customized services that have fulfilled our specific needs, as our business has grown and our needs have changed. We recognize the value that AT&T's hosting and advanced telephony capabilities bring to a company of our size and complexity."
