SOMERVILLE, Mass., May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Spotfire, Inc. (http://www.spotfire.com/), the Information Insight Company(SM), today announced the addition of Spotfire DXP Web Player to the Spotfire enterprise analytics platform for next generation business intelligence. Spotfire DXP Web Player brings the power of interactive and visual analytics to potentially hundreds or thousands of users - in and beyond the enterprise. With the new Web Player, Spotfire enables anyone to discover new insights in the information they work with every day, giving them and their teams an information advantage.
Before Spotfire DXP Web Player business professionals often relied on traditional, static BI reports with long turnaround times when new questions arose; or ubiquitous and overwhelming spreadsheet data. Now, business professionals and IT can produce interactive reports with Spotfire DXP Professional and then leverage the Web Player's rich interactive visualizations and "free dimensional" querying to reduce report backlogs and make information comprehensible and useful for hundreds or thousands people. The Web Player is easy to deploy, requiring no client-side installation of software.
"Next generation Business Intelligence is all about offering operational front-line workers access to easy-to-use visualization and analysis of business information to support daily decision-making," said Louella Fernandes, Principal Analyst, Quocirca. "Traditional BI tools are still complex and expensive to use, and with tools such as Spotfire, which offer visualization capabilities and a collaborative web environment, operational users can share, explore and manipulate information in a low footprint, visual BI environment which not only improves productivity but minimizes IT investment and dependency."
To create interactive reports for Spotfire DXP Web Player, Spotfire DXP Professional users simply save an analysis to the Spotfire Analytics Library and it's instantly available. There is no separate publishing step and no programming. Other users can immediately "play" the analysis anywhere using the Spotfire DXP Web Player. The player navigates users to known places of insight and discovery, while allowing them to freely explore the data. This flexibility for sharing content and insights via the Web can be integrated into portals, providing even more opportunities and vehicles for sharing data and advancing collaboration.
"The Web Player is a breakthrough capability for our customers looking for an information advantage," said Roger Oberg, CMO of Spotfire. "Interactive and visual reports that are easily accessed will free thousands of business professionals to discover their own insights and take informed actions while relieving IT's reporting backlog."
The Spotfire DXP Web Player will be generally available in June. For more information, visit: http://www.spotfire.com/

Scott Jenson leads a project called The Physical Web within the Chrome team at Google. Project members are working to take the scalability and openness of the web and use it to talk to the exponentially exploding range of smart devices. Fundamentally, SDN is still mostly about network plumbing. While plumbing may be useful to tinker with, what you can do with your plumbing is far more intriguing. A rigid interpretation of SDN confines it to Layers 2 and 3, and that's reasonable. But SDN opens opportunities for novel constructions in Layers 4 to 7 that solve real operational problems in data centers. "Data center," in fact, might become anachronistic - data is everywhere, constantly on the move, seemingly always overflowing. Net...
