We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
NASHVILLE, Tenn., May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Destiny Media Technologies' (OTCBB: DSNY) Play MPE system was in full force at this year's GMA Music Week, recording and distributing station liners from the show itself to Christian radio broadcasters nationwide. Play MPE was tapped exclusively by GMA Music Week to provide this trusted service.
Play MPE provided "DARTS" or Digital Artist Taping Sessions for all 48 booths at GMA Music Week. With high-end digital recording systems, Play MPE enabled the top artists attending GMA Music Week to record over 1200 station liners live from the show. Some of the featured artists include: Mark Schultz, Point of Grace, BarlowGirl, Building 420, TobyMac, Bethany Dillon, Chris Tomlin, Jars of Clay, Krystal Meyers, Bebo Norman, and Sanctus Real. The station liners were then digitally distributed through the Play MPE system.
"Play MPE helped to raise the excitement and quality levels at GMA Music Week," said John W. Styll, president and CEO of the Gospel Music Association. "Play MPE's ability to record and distribute liners provided a tremendous benefit for all the radio stations that participated in the Christian Music Broadcaster's Artist Taping event."
The Christian broadcasting industry was an early adopter of the MPE system, and usage of Play MPE has grown to include every major Christian radio station and label, such as EMI CMG (EMI Music), INO Records / Integrity Label Group, Provident Label Group (SONY BMG) and Word Label Group (Warner Music Group). Almost all Christian record labels are using the MPE system exclusively for distribution under paid contract. Within the Christian format in Mediabase, Play MPE has delivered every track in the top 30 without fail for several months.
"We continue to lead the way in digital distribution for the Christian broadcasting industry," said Dean Ernst, VP of MPE Operations. "We thank the Gospel Music Association for the opportunity to showcase our technology, and look forward to keeping the pipeline for new Christian music flowing."
Additionally, the Christian Music Broadcasters (CMB) nominated Play MPE for an Echo Award in the "Industry Impact" category.
About Play MPE
The Play MPE system delivers extremely high quality music, graphics and song data directly to authorized computers in a locked format that recognizes whether the machine has been registered with the system. If the labels allow the content to be burned to CD or exported, a proprietary patent pending forensic watermark, which survives analog duplication and compression is embedded into the song. This mark identifies the original source if copies are made.
The MPE system is used by over 800 record labels, including Universal Music Group, EMI Music Group, Sony BMG and Warner Music Group. Over 45,000 songs have been sent to radio stations and other trusted recipients since launch.
