MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 05/23/07 -- BioSyent Inc. ("BioSyent", the "Company")(TSX VENTURE: RX) today released its first quarter 2007 financial results. Sales for the quarter ended March 31, 2007 were $302,840, an increase of 17% versus $258,763 in the same period in 2006. The increase in sales was mainly due to an increase in Canadian orders for Protect-It®. FeraMAX(TM) shipments to wholesale customers commenced in April 2007 and as a result the first quarter sales result do not include any sales of that product. The first quarter sales increase coupled with a 0.5% improvement in product margin, increased gross profit by 18%, from $159,601 in the 2006 first quarter to $188,247 in the 2007 first quarter.

In preparation for the start of FeraMAX(TM) sales, investments were made by the Company in sales force and product promotion during the first quarter of 2007. These investments are reflected in the increased operating expenses for the three months ended March 31, 2007, which totalled $227,166, (2006 - $128,846) an increase of 76% compared to the same period in 2006. The first quarter 2007 operating expenses also included $21,535 of non-cash stock-based (share options) compensation expenses versus $0 in the comparable 2006 period. This $21,535 non-cash expense represented 22% of the over-all increase of $98,320 in operating expenses during the first quarter of 2007 compared to the year ago period.

The net loss for the first quarter of 2007 was $29,416, a decrease of $69,186 compared to a net profit of $39,770 in the same period in 2006. This translates to a loss per share of $0.002 (2/10 of one cent per share) for the three months ended March 31, 2007. As at March 31, 2007 the Company had working capital of $1,192,611 (including cash and cash equivalents of $1,183,636), a decrease of less than 1% from the December 31, 2006 working capital balance.
