Improving the Efficiency of SOA-Based Applications
jhv1blz5 wrote: The article validated SOA as an IT architecture paradigm that can be leveraged in many ways. Taking data storage, scalability and application performance to a nifty level using SOA Application Grid infrastructure will no doubt enhance data and application performance on Oracle architecture platforms, it also has the promise of a cost effective and efficient IT delivery model. The very benefits of SOA.

EnergySolutions to Manage UK Nuclear Power Plants
EnergySolutions to Manage UK Nuclear Power Plants

LONDON -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 06/06/07 -- EnergySolutions, one of the world's leading nuclear services management and decommissioning service providers, announced today that it has reached agreement to acquire Reactor Sites Management Company Limited (RSMC) from BNFL. RSMC, through its subsidiary Magnox Electric Ltd, holds the contracts and licences to operate and decommission 10 nuclear sites with 22 reactors in the UK on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), the Government body responsible for the clean up and decommissioning of the UK nuclear sites previously under the ownership of BNFL.

The proposed acquisition is the result of a competitive process which involved EnergySolutions demonstrating their credentials through a rigorous pre qualification process, against a set of stringent criteria, including the ability to safely manage and operate large nuclear facilities. The competition was open to all of the major players in the industry, and was ultimately narrowed down to a handful of highly qualified organisations before the ultimate decision was taken to select EnergySolutions.

"This opportunity reaffirms our commitment to being a world-wide provider of nuclear services and technology," said Steve Creamer, CEO of EnergySolutions. "This announcement today means that EnergySolutions will significantly expand its nuclear operations in the United Kingdom. We take on this responsibility with the same commitment to safety and the environment that has always characterized our company," Creamer added.

Philip Strawbridge, EnergySolutions International Group President, said: "The addition of RSMC is an important part of the growing success of EnergySolutions. We look forward to working with the NDA and I appreciate that BNFL and the NDA have entrusted us with the management of this business. We also welcome the workforce of approximately 3,500 highly talented employees in RSMC and Magnox Electric."

EnergySolutions offers customers a full range of integrated services and solutions, including nuclear operations, characterization, decommissioning, decontamination, site closure, transportation, nuclear materials management, the safe, secure disposition of nuclear waste, and research and engineering services across the fuel cycle.

Weil, Gotshal and Manges were the legal advisors for EnergySolutions on this transaction.
