Typemock Releases New Isolator Version With Support For Visual Studio Team Services

Isolator Version 8.5 also includes breakthrough “Insight” feature with instant test analysis

Typemock (www.typemock.com), the leading provider and pioneer of automated unit testing solutions, has announced today the release of Isolator Version 8.5 for .NET. The new version is packed with new features, including support for VSTS where developers and testers can run suggested text in a self-service sandboxed environment.

The new Typemock extension includes two tasks: (1) SmartRunner, a unit test runner that can run NUnit and MSTest based tests, can handle the deployment of Typemock Isolator, and can run on both Shared and On Premises Agents;. and (2) Typemock with VSTest, which acts as a wrapper enabling Typemock Isolator to run tests via VSTest.

Unit testing is a method of software function analysis where small parts of code, or modules, are tested to determine whether they are compatible with the software as a whole. The goal of unit testing is to ensure that each individual part of a program is working correctly. Unit testing helps a developer discover problems early, simplifies integration, and allows for better documentation of the overall software build. It is also the backbone of Agile, enabling the rapid change of software.

In addition to Typemock’s VSTS support, the new version includes “Insight”, a revolutionary feature which provides the developer with instant test analysis, letting you know if a method was faked or if the test used an unfaked instance.

Additional new features include:

Support for Asynchronous tests

Mocking now has an API for hidden base methods, and can verify future fields and fakes fields.

SmartRunner includes shadow copy support and runs x32 and x64 tests simultaneously.

With Typemock, private methods can also be mocked and faked and are no longer treated as third class systems. The stability of Typemock is recognized by industries with a low margin for error: Fifty percent of the largest banks have teams using Typemock and a large Southwest based bank recently signed on for 200 .NET developers and 100 C++ developers to use Typemock.
