Plone and Drupal: Different Approaches, Different Results
paul.nowak wrote: Matt, thanks for the comments. I made an error on the version of Plone. It's 2.5 Plone running on Zope 2.9x. In regards to the additional products, we have a skin installed and we have a product that we had custom developed for us that connects to a PostgreSQL database. We've looked at slow PostgreSQL queries causing problems and have not been able to find an issue. We've also tested for the case where the PostgreSQL server is down and have not been able to create an issue. We therefor...

QUALCOMM and NTELOS Announce Plan to Provide Wireless Subscribers with a Web Portal to Deliver Mobile Content
- New Portal Allows NTELOS to Provide BREW Content to Subscribers via the Internet -

By: PR Newswire
Jul. 2, 2007 11:30 AM

SAN DIEGO, July 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- QUALCOMM Incorporated , a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and mobile data solutions, and NTELOS, , a leading provider of wireless communications services in Virginia and West Virginia, today announced plans to launch the first BREW(R) Consumer Portal. The new portal will complement NTELOS's existing BREW data services and will allow NTELOS to offer its subscribers the browsing for, and selection of, BREW applications and services over a Web-based storefront. In addition to providing a new avenue for subscribers to discover and download BREW applications, the BREW Consumer Portal provides NTELOS with the means to better promote content best suited to its subscribers. NTELOS expects to make this service available to NTELOS subscribers later this year.

The BREW Consumer Portal provides both an Internet shopping portal that wireless subscribers can use to discover and download mobile content, and an administrative portal to manage the content that is displayed and available for download. Once a user selects an application or service, the content is delivered to the mobile device via the BREW Delivery System. Operators can also use the back-end administrative portal to manage the shopper portal user interface, allowing them to configure the site's appearance and the information made available to end users through shopper portal icons, banners, graphics information and the overall BREW Consumer Portal main page presentation. The BREW Consumer Portal supports both pre-pay and post-pay billing methods for increased content purchasing.

The BREW Consumer Portal was presented on June 21 at the BREW 2007 Conference during NTELOS' speaker session entitled "Web-to-Handset Delivery with BREW Consumer Portal."

"When NTELOS announced the launch of BREW services in June 2004, it signified our commitment to offering the very latest in compelling mobile content to our wireless subscribers," said Carl Rosberg, president of NTELOS. "NTELOS intends to be the first wireless operator in the world to launch the BREW Consumer Portal and by doing so expects to raise the standard for what is possible in improving the user's experience. This effort is another example of how we provide our customers with the latest in mobile content and the ability to discover all the exciting wireless data services available today."

"There is a need in the wireless industry to provide end users with options for discovering exciting and advanced mobile content," said Arvin Chander, vice president of carrier relations for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "NTELOS plans to address that need with its launch of a Web-based shopper portal for BREW applications and services. By providing NTELOS with not only a Web-based shopping portal, but an administrative function for controlling information pushed to the Web, the BREW Consumer Portal will help NTELOS drive the uptake of compelling data services."

BREW solutions change the way people relate to wireless data services. By enabling the discovery and delivery of high-value content, BREW creates opportunities for the wireless industry to enhance consumers' mobile data experience. QUALCOMM's comprehensive and targeted BREW Signature Solutions offer reduced time to market and lower capital investment for companies providing mobile products and services. Customers also can benefit from several modular BREW offerings, including uiOne(TM), deliveryOne(TM) and QPoint(TM), which provide the foundation for customer-differentiated wireless data capabilities.

NTELOS is an integrated communications provider headquartered in Waynesboro, Virginia. NTELOS provides products and services to customers in Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio and North Carolina, including wireless phone service, high-speed DSL (high-speed Internet access) and local and long-distance telephone services.
