Egenera Changes CEOs Again
By Maureen O'Gara
kennyo wrote: Actually, Egenera's CEO is staying on as Board chairman. As the company transitions to be a multi-platform player, the feeling is to have management who are experts about software, the converged infrastructure market, and familiar with the players in the space. Ergo the new CEO, and ergo the new levels of backing from investors. The company is still hiring in its field and OEM spaces, and in conversations with multiple IHV partners.

“The combination of HTC’s leadership in the Windows Mobile device market and Sybase’s leadership in enterprise mobility software made this alliance a natural fit,” said Terry Stepien, president, Sybase iAnywhere. “Combining our Sybase iAnywhere solutions with innovative HTC mobile devices and wireless infrastructure creates simple and affordable ways to improve productivity, increase efficiency and drive sales in an increasingly competitive marketplace.”

Sybase, Inc., a provider of enterprise infrastructure and mobile software, and HTC Corp., a provider of Microsoft Windows Mobile-based smart devices, have formed a global alliance that will focus initially on the management and security components of the Sybase Information Anywhere suite, which provides a platform for enterprise mobility. Sybase will work closely with HTC on product optimization and integration, resulting in stronger Windows Mobile device management and security options for enterprises. The companies are teaming on strategic business, engineering and marketing initiatives designed to deliver optimized Sybase iAnywhere mobility software on HTC devices.

“HTC strategically aligns itself with technology-leading partners to provide exceptional value to our customers,” said Fred Liu, chief operating officer, HTC. “We are pleased to partner with Sybase iAnywhere to empower mobile workforces in a variety of industries to access and interact with their enterprise data at the point of business activity.”

Last year, Harris Corporation selected Sybase iAnywhere mobile technologies to power the 2010 U.S. Census, the largest-ever mobile software deployment. The 2010 U.S. Census will leverage the company’s Information Anywhere mobile database, synchronization and mobile device management technology on HTC devices used by door-to-door census takers.
