Pacific Fund Systems' (PFS) the global leader in fund administration systems has launched its new Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) offering, PFS-CLOUD, with the first client of the new service now benefitting from seamless continuous access to the award-winning PFS-PAXUS and PFS-CONNECT software via the cloud.

PFS-PAXUS offers a complete back-office fund accounting, portfolio valuation, fund pricing and transfer agency administrative solution that includes regulatory reporting, in a single fully-integrated system, providing the backbone solution for fund administration providers globally, from independent fund administration providers to some of the world's largest global financial services companies. PFS-CONNECT provides a web portal for access to all fund transaction and performance data by fund managers, their investors and intermediaries, and also incorporates optional online shareholder transaction processing.

PFS-CLOUD provides PFS clients with the ability to reduce IT costs, removing any requirement for local PFS-PAXUS and PFS-CONNECT hosting expenditure. PFS-CLOUD provides immediate and complete flexibility to scale infrastructure requirements instantly, whilst also freeing up valuable client in-house resources to focus on core business activities without compromising security or user experience. As part of the service PFS-CLOUD also eliminates the need for clients to execute time-consuming upgrade processes as these will be performed by PFS experts. PFS-CLOUD allows fund administrators to access the latest version of PFS-PAXUS, and the optional web portal PFS-CONNECT, via a fast, fully secure, virtualised environment that is hosted with best-of-breed Microsoft and Citrix infrastructure. All client data is remotely backed up and maintained securely to provide a full DRP and business continuity support. PFS-CLOUD can be accessed from anywhere around the globe - providing immediate access for individual users in any location, or in the event of planned or emergency client office relocation.

As a subscription-based service, PFS-CLOUD clients do not have any capital infrastructure costs or any operating or ongoing administration and maintenance costs. The underlying infrastructure is managed by PFS with PFS-CLOUD optimised to highest levels of performance and reliability.

CEO of PFS, Mr Paul Kneen commented: "We are delighted to welcome our first new PFS-CLOUD client to take advantage of the benefits offered by our SaaS solution. Signs of a shift in the usage of public clouds are everywhere. Previously, as organizations outgrew old IT methods, the natural answer was to try the public cloud approach; however, the public platform alone is not a complete solution. Complaints include unpredictable/escalating costs and mounting security concerns in the public cloud. Ultimately, public cloud adoption can ultimately mean a shift of IT pains instead of a resolution. That's why the move to hybrid, custom, and multi-cloud will ...

Using serverless computing has a number of obvious benefits over traditional application infrastructure - you pay only for what you use, scale up or down immediately to match supply with demand, and avoid operating any server infrastructure at all. However, implementing maintainable and scalable applications using serverless computing services like AWS Lambda poses a number of challenges. The absence of long-lived, user-managed servers means that states cannot be maintained by the service. Lo...

Kubernetes as a Container Platform is becoming a de facto for every enterprise. In my interactions with enterprises adopting container platform, I come across common questions: - How does application security work on this platform? What all do I need to secure? - How do I implement security in pipelines? - What about vulnerabilities discovered at a later point in time? - What are newer technologies like Istio Service Mesh bring to table? In this session, I will be addressing these commonly asked ...
In a recent survey, Sumo Logic surveyed 1,500 customers who employ cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). According to the survey, a quarter of the respondents have already deployed Docker containers and nearly as many (23 percent) are employing the AWS Lambda serverless computing framework. It's clear: serverless is here to stay. The adoption does come with some needed changes, within both application development and operations. Th...
