PhyMed CEO Named Board Member of Center for Medical Interoperability

Bonick Brings Hospital CEO and Physician Group Experience to the CMI Table

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Marty Bonick, chief executive officer for PhyMed Healthcare Group, has joined the Center for Medical Interoperability Board.

"We are striving for plug-and-play interoperability in healthcare, meaning the technologies clinicians use to take care of people can seamlessly exchange information and be easily swapped out as needed, and nobody understands the need for that better than Marty," says Ed Cantwell, President and Chief Executive Officer for CMI. "He brings a valuable perspective to our efforts to accelerate the seamless exchange of information in healthcare."

Bonick brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in both for-profit and non-profit settings. Prior to joining PhyMed, one of the nation's leading provider of anesthesia services, Mr. Bonick was President of Division Operations at Community Health Systems (CHS), overseeing a $4.5 billion portfolio of 36 hospitals and their associated clinics, outpatient centers, ambulatory surgery centers and urgent care operations across six states.

He also served as CEO of Jewish Hospital and Senior Vice President of Operations for Jewish Hospital & St. Mary's Healthcare in Louisville, KY. He has also held various leadership positions at Ardent Health Services, including CEO of Oklahoma State University Medical Center and VP of Operations for Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, OK.

Formed in 2015, the Center for Medical Interoperability is a nonprofit research and development lab aimed at simplifying and advancing data sharing among medical technologies and systems. Working on behalf its health system members, the Center has built considerable momentum by aggregating a large coalition of vendors. Five interoperability testing events have demonstrated significant progress thus far. The certification of technology solutions will allow providers and their procurement arms to make informed decisions about their purchases and the ability of those devices and other modalities to interact in a seamless and trusted manner.

"Hospitals, physicians and payers don't always work together, but to truly change the trajectory of healthcare, we must find ways to effectively collaborate while keeping the patient at the center of our attention," says Bonick. "The CMI and its lab is a vital step in building a common direction for the industry, and I am delighted to be representing providers in advancing those efforts."

As container adoption grows beyond stateless applications to stateful workloads, the need for persistent storage is foundational - something customers routinely cite as a top pain point. In his session at @DevOpsSummit at 21st Cloud Expo, Bill Borsari, Head of Systems Engineering at Datera, explored how organizations can reap the bene...
Serverless Architecture is the new paradigm shift in cloud application development. It has potential to take the fundamental benefit of cloud platform leverage to another level. "Focus on your application code, not the infrastructure" All the leading cloud platform provide services to implement Serverless architecture : AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Functions, IBM Openwhisk, Oracle Fn Project.
As you know, enterprise IT conversation over the past year have often centered upon the open-source Kubernetes container orchestration system. In fact, Kubernetes has emerged as the key technology -- and even primary platform -- of cloud migrations for a wide variety of organizations. Kubernetes is critical to forward-looking enterprises that continue to push their IT infrastructures toward maximum functionality, scalability, and flexibility.

Serverless applications increase developer productivity and time to market, by freeing engineers from spending time on infrastructure provisioning, configuration and management. Serverless also simplifies Operations and reduces cost - as the Kubernetes container infrastructure required to run these applications is automatically spun up and scaled precisely with the workload, to optimally handle all runtime requests. Recent advances in open source technology now allow organizations to run Serv...
In a recent survey, Sumo Logic surveyed 1,500 customers who employ cloud services such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). According to the survey, a quarter of the respondents have already deployed Docker containers and nearly as many (23 percent) are employing the AWS Lambda serverless computing framework. It's clear: serverless is here to stay. The adoption does come with some needed changes, within both application development and operations. Th...
The benefits of automated cloud deployments for speed, reliability and security are undeniable. The cornerstone of this approach, immutable deployment, promotes the idea of continuously rolling safe, stable images instead of trying to keep up with managing a fixed pool of virtual or physical machines. In this talk, we'll explore the immutable infrastructure pattern and how to use continuous deployment and continuous integration (CI/CD) process to build and manage server images for any platform....

Enterprises are adopting Kubernetes to accelerate the development and the delivery of cloud-native applications. However, sharing a Kubernetes cluster between members of the same team can be challenging. And, sharing clusters across multiple teams is even harder. Kubernetes offers several constructs to help implement segmentation and isolation. However, these primitives can be complex to understand and apply. As a result, it’s becoming common for enterprises to end up with several clusters. This...
Containers and Kubernetes allow for code portability across on-premise VMs, bare metal, or multiple cloud provider environments. Yet, despite this portability promise, developers may include configuration and application definitions that constrain or even eliminate application portability. In this session we'll describe best practices for "configuration as code" in a Kubernetes environment. We will demonstrate how a properly constructed containerized app can be deployed to both Amazon and Azure ...
Is advanced scheduling in Kubernetes achievable?Yes, however, how do you properly accommodate every real-life scenario that a Kubernetes user might encounter? How do you leverage advanced scheduling techniques to shape and describe each scenario in easy-to-use rules and configurations? In his session at @DevOpsSummit at 21st Cloud Expo, Oleg Chunikhin, CTO at Kublr, answered these questions and demonstrated techniques for implementing advanced scheduling.
