Drool, Britannia? Is the UK Failing the Cloud?
By Roger Strukhoff
Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud. We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Captain Jack Sparrow and Catwoman Lead Fandango's List of Top Movie-Related Halloween Costumes
Fandango's Halloween Haunt (http://www.fandango.com/halloween) includes Costume Quiz and Photo Gallery with Halloween Get-Ups In

By: PR Newswire
Oct. 4, 2007 09:16 AM

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnny Depp and Halle Berry have something in common this Halloween: their characters (in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" series and "Catwoman," respectively) are the fans' top inspirations for movie-related Halloween costumes, according to a recent survey by Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination.

Fandango asked thousands of movie fans to rank the costumes they're most likely to wear this year, and the results are surprising. According to the survey, 70% of the respondents said that they plan to wear movie-inspired costumes this Halloween.

"Pirates"' Captain Jack captured the top spot for favorite male movie-related costume, but Spider-Man, Dracula, Batman and Harry Potter were not far behind. Interestingly, "Star Wars" protagonist Luke Skywalker did not crack the Top Ten, whereas nemesis Darth Vader did make the cut.

"Catwoman"'s Halle Berry may have won a Razzie Award in 2004, but her skin-tight costume still ranks as a major hit among Fandango fans. Other top female costume vote-getters were Tinkerbell, Cinderella, Lara Croft, Cleopatra, Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley's character from "Pirates") and John Travolta's Edna Turnblad (from "Hairspray").

The top costumes, and dozens of others, are featured in the Costume Gallery of Fandango's Halloween Haunt site at http://www.fandango.com/halloween. For those who need help selecting their best option, the site also includes a Costume Quiz that provides four recommendations based on your personality.

"Movies often shape popular culture, and Halloween is certainly no different," says Ted Hong, VP of Marketing for Fandango. "By using an iconic image from the movies as your inspiration, it brings a certain larger-than-life quality to your Halloween costume."

Here are the top ten movie-themed costumes in each category: MEN: 1. Captain Jack Sparrow ("Pirates") 2. Spider-Man 3. Dracula 4. Batman 5. Harry Potter 6. Superman 7. Darth Vader 8. Indiana Jones 9. Wolverine ("X-Men") 10. Borat WOMEN: 1. Catwoman 2. Tinkerbell 3. Cinderella 4. Lara Croft ("Tomb Raider") 5. Cleopatra 6. Dorothy ("The Wizard of Oz") 7. Princess Leia ("Star Wars") 8. Marilyn Monroe's white-dressed "Girl Next Door" ("The Seven Year Itch") 9. Edna Turnblad ("Hairspray") 10. Elizabeth Swann ("Pirates")
