We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.

Just as its competitor, MontaVista, supports ScopeTools as Eclipse plugins for its Eclipse-based DevRocket tool suite, so Wind River is keen to go on improving its Eclipse-based development suite for embedded Linux, Workbench, by integrating ScopeTools - a set of real-time debug and analysis tools from Real-Time Innovations (RTI).
ScopeTools will be the "first significant tools" integrated with Workbench when it arrives later this Spring, according to Wind River, which has partnered with RTI for more than twelve years, during which RTI's StethoScope has been a mainstay for embedded developers.
ScopeTools includes:
StethoScope - which debugs applications running at close to full speed, by dynamically patching application code at runtime
ProfileScope - a dynamic profiler
MemScope, a real-time memory analyzer.
Workbench, which will ship this spring, and support Linux development as well as development with VxWorks versions 6.0 and newer when they arrive.
