(November 8, 2007) - Virtualization is one of the most interesting IT topics these days. Whereas one can find a lot of concepts and high level content provided by various vendors, it's still a challenge to find detailed technical information on how to use it in SAP landscapes. This session will show you in detail how SAP is using virtualization in its datacenters today, what is really working and what is not, what the pain points are, how SAP solutions behave in a virtualized environment with products offered by partners like VMWare, and which guidelines customers should look at.
Speaker Bio: Roland Wartenberg is Director of Virtualization Strategy, SAP. He started his IT career as a consultant with Digital Equipment from 1991 to 1997 and has been with SAP since 1997. He was a development manager with SAP Markets, Palo Alto from 2000 to 2002. From 2003 to 2005 he lent his multiple skills to the position of product manager for Adaptive Computing with SAP AG in Walldorf, Germany.
At the end of 2005 Wartenberg took over new responsibilities as an evangelist for SAP's Platform Ecosystem at SAP Labs, Palo Alto, California. He has been working on SAP's virtualization strategy since October 2006. He has made more than 200 public presentations during the past few years. He holds a Dipl.Ing. in electrical engineering.
Service-oriented architectures (SOAs) have evolved over the past few years out of the original vision of loosely coupled web services replacing constrained, stovepiped applications throughout enterprise IT. Every major enterprise technology vendor today has developed its own SOA strategy, supported by innumerable mid-size companies and start-ups offering specific SOA aspects or entire solutions. This explosive growth in SOA technology is in response to a global demand--IDC estimates that spending on SOA services alone will grow from $8.6 billion to more than $33 billion by 2010.
SOA World Conference & Expo SOA World Conference & Expo 2007 brings together the best minds in the business to San Francisco for a two-day conference that offers comprehensive coverage of SOA and what it means to enterprise IT today. As Zapthink analyst Jason Bloomberg has noted, "SOA involves rethinking how the business leverages IT in many various ways." Attend SOA World Conference & Expo 2007 West and learn from more than 100 speakers about how SOA is transforming business--and the way IT and business managers think about their businesses, processes, and technology.
