Front-End Engineering Rocks at AJAXWorld, March 18-20, 2008 New York City! Enjoy the session "Writing Large Web Applications Using the YUI" by Yahoo!'s Chris Heilmann. The session explains the architectural ideas of event-driven application development and shows examples how this is helpful for AJAX applications.
"Web Developers these days should use libraries," Heilmann contends, "for the main reason that all
libraries want the same thing: make it easier for developers to think about
building their applications rather than worrying about quirks and failures of
Web browsers."
Some libraries go even further in giving a helping hand to the
aspriring Web application architect, Heilmann notes. "The YUI for example has a Custom Event
feature which can be used to create massive applications that can be easily
maintained and are fully extendable," he adds.
A front-end architect with Yahoo! Heilmann was born in Germany, and worked for several
agencies before spending a .com year working for eToys in the US before settling
in the UK. He has written several books on Accessibility, JavaScript and Web
Design/Development and currently works for Yahoo! UK. Christian blogs at http://wait-till-i.com and has a backlog of
his numerous articles at http://icant.co.uk.
