Improving the Efficiency of SOA-Based Applications
jhv1blz5 wrote: The article validated SOA as an IT architecture paradigm that can be leveraged in many ways. Taking data storage, scalability and application performance to a nifty level using SOA Application Grid infrastructure will no doubt enhance data and application performance on Oracle architecture platforms, it also has the promise of a cost effective and efficient IT delivery model. The very benefits of SOA.

BURLINGAME, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 01/07/08 -- Encirq® Corporation, a leading provider of software and services for high-performance embedded data processing and management, today announced that Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. has entered into a multi-year agreement to use DeviceSQL(TM) as a key software technology for its next generation of Interactive Program Guides (IPGs) for digital TVs, DVRs and DVD recorders in both the US and Europe; and which will be deployed under the TV Guide On Screen and GUIDE Plus+ brands in these respective regions. IPGs provide the user interface and metadata that allow users to navigate, search and sort through programs and channels, set reminders and record favorite shows.

"Our next-generation guides need to provide intuitive and responsive interfaces across a wide range of digital entertainment platforms," said Eric Shalkey, VP of Technology Strategy, TV Guide On Screen. "Efficiently managing the growing volumes of metadata that power these guides is challenging. We selected DeviceSQL for its superior data management performance, minimal memory requirements and the in-depth embedded expertise and services of Encirq's staff."

"Leading interactive program guide developers like Gemstar-TV Guide are tasked with managing an explosion of metadata from an increasing number of data sources," said Colin Dixon, Practice Manager, Broadband Media, The Diffusion Group. "Doing this efficiently and reliably on a wide variety of resource-constrained systems is critical to delivering a rich, interactive and responsive guide experience that allows consumers to quickly find what they want. With their advanced DeviceSQL technology and professional services, Encirq has proven they can help guide developers succeed in this challenging environment."

"We are very pleased that Gemstar-TV Guide has partnered with Encirq and selected DeviceSQL for their next-generation IPGs," said Deb Goslin, CEO of Encirq. "Our advanced technology and services are ideal for helping OEMs tackle the metadata management challenge. We look forward to helping them accelerate the delivery of enhanced guide experiences across an expanding array of digital video platforms."
