Richard Davies wrote: The UK has a good crop of technology pioneers in cloud computing - for example ElasticHosts, FlexiScale, Flexiant, OnApp - and also some strong government initiatives such as G-Cloud.
We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
SAN DIEGO, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- BeckyBones.com is an eco-portal where teens can access and contribute to a worldwide network of eco-information, socialize, apply for a "25 Grant", link to co-branded products, get conservation tips, share their stories through photos & videos, and join in Becky's crazy adventures with her friends Drip, Lucy Lies and Tree.
Becky Bones, a new eco-conscious brand created in support of inspired teens who want to save the planet, plans to license a wide variety of product categories, including dolls, accessories, cartoons, books, video games, shoes and t-shirts. Becky Bones, LLC has pledged to donate 25% of its' licensed profits to the environment, through grassroots solutions like planting trees, starting recycling programs, and other green projects created by teens.
Becky Bones is linking every media space that teens are locked into, in order to drive their message and increase the stickiness of their content. They plan to connect with other teen portals and harness the following things that teens can't live without: technological devices that allow them to communicate, online social networks, do it yourself/scavenger hunt type projects, validation, empowerment, and the planet.
The vision for Becky Bones is to provide an inspiring and humorous environment for teens to learn about environmental problems, express their feelings about those issues, and to get involved. Becky Bones' tagline is "Save the Earth, Save Yourself" and the mission is to drive awareness and dollars back to the environment. Today's generation of teenagers face the question; what will become of the earth in my lifetime? Teens are tired of waiting for someone else to come up with a solution to the environmental crises facing the planet. They know it's up to them to make the difference and change the actions of those willing to trample their planet.
Becky Bones says, "The ten Becky Bones episodes that currently exist are hilarious and eco-educational. The characters will translate perfectly onto products and help drive dollars back to teens. With the ever-growing need to help save the environment, I wanted to support the teens who are making a difference. The co-branded products allow me to partner with brands that want to commit to the environment, but don't know how. Through me, they can immediately give back and through them, I can affect more environmental change than I could on my own."
Becky Bones has recently licensed shoes to San Diego-based skate/surf lifestyle brand, Osiris Girls. This will be the first product line available under the Becky Bones umbrella. Action sports retail chain, Journeys, has already picked up the line, with a planned roll out in late January. Organic tees and hoodies will be the next products to be released, sporting Becky Bones slogans like "Recycle Yourself" and words such as "Revolt," "Renew," and "Respond."
The Becky Bones episodes are centered on the title character, Becky Bones, a little girl who transforms after falling into her town's polluted river. She is joined by a cast of three supporting characters: Drip, a former refinery dog who helps Becky smell out eco-problems, Lucy Lies, a robot doll programmed to tell lies about the environment, and Tree, who is always cut down, turned into cereal boxes or toilet paper and then thrown in the trash. Becky Bones plants a new Tree at the end of each episode, which becomes Tree for the next episode.
