SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Software MacKiev, an award-winning software developer and publisher, announced today at the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, the release of a free HyperStudio 5 "Legacy" Player for Mac OS X. The new player, which is available as a free download from the Software MacKiev Web site, allows stacks created in previous editions of HyperStudio to run on Mac OS X for the first time.

HyperStudio was created by educational technology pioneer Roger Wagner and has long been a leader in multimedia creativity software. Software MacKiev acquired the HyperStudio brand in June 2007 and has been collaborating with Mr. Wagner on the next generation of HyperStudio products. A new edition of the HyperStudio authoring tool, HyperStudio 5, is nearing completion and is being demonstrated this week at the Macworld Expo (Software MacKiev Booth #826).

Pricing and Availability

The HyperStudio 5 Legacy Player for Mac OS X is available immediately free of charge from the Software MacKiev Web site. Go to http://www.mackiev.com/ and follow links to Support. The Legacy Player was designed to open and play all HyperStudio stacks created with version 3 and 4, including those made using HyperLogo. It runs on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and later, including Mac OS X 10.5 "Leopard".
