Improving the Efficiency of SOA-Based Applications
jhv1blz5 wrote: The article validated SOA as an IT architecture paradigm that can be leveraged in many ways. Taking data storage, scalability and application performance to a nifty level using SOA Application Grid infrastructure will no doubt enhance data and application performance on Oracle architecture platforms, it also has the promise of a cost effective and efficient IT delivery model. The very benefits of SOA.

Banishing Virtualization Complexities
Expanded Scalent Channel Offers Enterprises Additional Flexibility in the Data and Purchasing Centers

By: Virtualization News

Scalent Systems announced that it now offers enterprises additional purchasing flexibility by recently expanding its sales channel to include OEM and reseller partners including EMC, Unisys, and HP.

The power to achieve server repurposing -- changing which servers are running, what software is running on them, and how they're connected to network and storage -- in minutes, without physical cable moves or resource reconfiguration, via Scalent Virtual Operating Environment (V/OE) software, has drawn attention from some of the most trusted server vendors in the industry. Now, data center managers looking to achieve greater management control, higher utilization and improved availability of server resources have several places to turn to engage Scalent to solve these IT challenges.

The joint solutions enabled by Scalent partners deliver a highly efficient deployment of virtualized infrastructure which can be rapidly deployed and re-deployed in real-time to better adjust to business demands affecting the data center. Further, IT managers can save time and better align IT with business value propositions by utilizing Scalent V/OE to enable any managed server software stack to boot from any physical or virtual machine with access to network and storage resources on the fly, and without requiring manual changes to underlying physical infrastructure.

"The partners we are working with speak volumes to both the Scalent V/OE product and market need for infrastructure virtualization," said Ben Linder, CEO of Scalent Systems, "Enabling real-time initiatives, from test through disaster recovery, is critical for IT operations and efficient data center utilization."

"Companies which have first embraced server virtualization look to infrastructure virtualization to further consolidate and control their data center," said Donna Scott, VP and Distinguished Analyst, Gartner. "The adoption of virtualization strategies has increased the requirement for management solutions which automate the provisioning of both physical and virtual servers, as well as the network and storage data center resources to enable a real-time infrastructure."

As a member of the EMC Select Partner Program, Scalent Software is available direct from EMC sales representatives. Whether offered as a stand-alone product or as part of a greater solution to deliver disaster recovery through server and site fail-over, Scalent provides infrastructure virtualization and server repurposing which leverages the EMC storage product suite.

Unisys OEMs Scalent V/OE as uAdapt to deliver real-time infrastructure to both customers of the Unisys ES7000 server line as well as heterogeneous infrastructure deployed within their customer's environment. Scalent enhances the delivery of real-time initiatives through its support of a wide breath of operating environments, server hardware, and networking infrastructure.

Most recently, HP made Scalent available to their BladeSystem c-Class Server customers through the company's Solution Builder Program. This relationship enables HP customers to seamlessly acquire Scalent software through HP to automate the deployment of servers and enable 5-minute server fail-over within BladeSystem c-Class deployments.
