Oracle zeroed in on Salesforce.com the other day when it rolled out the latest version of Siebel's rechristened on-demand software, now called Oracle CRM On Demand 15 and targeted up to run on Blackberries with fashionable social networking and collaboration capabilities to help users find the right guy in their organization to help them close a sale.

The widgetry is dependent on technology like Sticky Notes and Message Center, which allows back-and-forth commentary.

Objects such as top accounts or contacts can be included in web portals like iGoogle or MyYahoo, where contents from other web applications and RSS feeds can be incorporated.

Oracle last year lost a 30,000-seat deal at Citibank to Salesforce.

Oracle bought Siebel a couple of years ago for almost $3.6 billion.
