We will have to see whether this kind of technical leadership converts into swift mass-market adoption or not.
Jabber, Inc. (http://www.jabber.com)
today announced that it was selected as the runner-up for the Graham
Bell Award for Best Communication Solution in the 2007 SPIFFY Awards by
the Service Provider Innovation Forum (SPiF) of the Telecom Council of
Silicon Valley.
Several hundred companies were nominated for the eight SPIFFY award
categories, which recognized outstanding innovation and execution by
entrepreneurs in the telecommunications industry as judged by
twenty-five global carriers. The Graham Bell Award for Best
Communication Solution acknowledged the companies that advanced the
cause of improving telecommunications.
“Our service provider members from around the
world review hundreds of exceptional start-up telecom companies annually
from a variety of categories that showcase new products and services in
the communications technology industry,” said
Liz Kerton, president of the Telecom Council of Silicon Valley. “With
Jabber’s runner-up SPIFFY award, these
carriers formally recognize the high quality and global impact of
Jabber's communication solutions.”
Among the twenty-five global fixed and wireless carriers from Asia,
Europe, and North and South America were
AT&T, British Telecom, France Telecom, NTT DoCoMo, SK Telecom, Sprint,
Swisscom, and Vodafone. These members of the Service Provider Forum
voted for the start-up companies for each SPIFFY award category,
identifying those who have developed telecommunications solutions that
provide the most opportunities and benefits to global communication
service providers.
“Some of the early adopters of presence-based
applications were telecommunications companies who wanted to integrate
presence and messaging into their consumer offerings,”
said Paul Guerin, chief executive officer of Jabber. “The
SPIFFY runner-up award for the best communication solution acknowledges
Jabber’s continuing ability to develop
innovative, market leading, presence-based solutions.”
