In its efforts to keep the boat afloat, it’s generally assumed that AMD will throw its consumer electronics business overboard.

Its revenues last quarter were a measly $81 million, down 26% sequentially, and its operating margin was -10%, down from 11% quarter-over-quarter.

The unit includes integrated digital TV processors and media and applications processors and customers include brand names like Sony, Sharp, Motorola, Nokia and JVC.

Meanwhile, Mercury Research says AMD lost share to Intel – both in terms of revenue and units – in all processor segments in Q1.

AMD, by the way, has released three bug-fixed triple-core Phenom processors, while Intel has cut the prices on some of its quads, in some case by 50%.
