Plone and Drupal: Different Approaches, Different Results
paul.nowak wrote: Matt, thanks for the comments. I made an error on the version of Plone. It's 2.5 Plone running on Zope 2.9x. In regards to the additional products, we have a skin installed and we have a product that we had custom developed for us that connects to a PostgreSQL database. We've looked at slow PostgreSQL queries causing problems and have not been able to find an issue. We've also tested for the case where the PostgreSQL server is down and have not been able to create an issue. We therefor...

US Air Force Awards Teksouth Corporation $17 Million, Five-Year Contract to Administer Financial Data Warehouse
US Air Force Awards Teksouth Corporation $17 Million, Five-Year Contract to Administer Financial Data Warehouse

By: PR Newswire

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Teksouth Corporation (http://www.teksouth.com/), a veteran systems integrator providing data management and business intelligence systems, today announced it has been awarded a five- year, $17.2 million contract from the United States Air Force to administer a sophisticated data warehouse used by the Air Force to manage the execution of its $40 billion worldwide Operations and Maintenance budget. The decision continues Teksouth's successful, decade-long relationship with the Air Force. Teksouth built the data warehousing system, the Commander's Resource Integration System (CRIS), and has maintained the system ever since. Today under Teksouth's management, more than 14,000 Air Force personnel worldwide, with appropriate security, access the information contained in the data warehouse simultaneously, 24 hours a day, and rapidly obtain answers to questions that maximize financial performance, controlling costs, thus helping to save taxpayers money.

"The Air Force has come to rely on Teksouth's expertise to help it better manage the funds it receives," said Steve Wilsher, Teksouth's Chief Executive Officer. "With its global presence, the Air Force must be able to quickly analyze huge amounts of financial data. CRIS fulfills that need. I'm pleased that Teksouth, with its headquarters here in Alabama, will continue to play a significant role in assisting our government in this key area."

In an article written more than three years ago, Air Force officials commended Teksouth and its work with CRIS. "Ultimately, CRIS has demonstrated a strong return on investment for the Air Force and taxpayers by reducing demands on manpower and better focusing fiscal assets within various programs. We have to validate our outstanding obligations three times a year, and the numbers are in the billions of dollars," an Air Force official said. "CRIS gives us instant results we can view in a very user-friendly fashion. We now can spot and eliminate problems in advance. Without a doubt, CRIS has been a very wise business decision."

Teksouth currently has 140 employees in Alabama, Washington, DC, and worldwide, with the operation of CRIS based at its headquarters outside Birmingham. Wilsher said he anticipates a modest addition to the company's staff to help administer CRIS under the new five-year agreement, especially as the number of Air Force personnel who need to use the system continues to grow.

"CRIS has repeatedly proven its worth in real-life performance situations," said Staff Ouderkirk, Teksouth's president. "We are honored that the Air Force has found us worthy to continue performing this critical mission. We also believe this validates our technical and business expertise, which is especially important as we broaden our scope to include work in the commercial sector."
