nSolutions' Virtualization Appliance Selected for Trusted Network Connect's Demonstration
NOVA Correlates Data Among Applications, Network Devices, Servers and Virtual Systems In Real Time to Improve Network Defense

By: Virtualization News
Apr. 29, 2008 04:15 PM

nSolutions will showcase how its flagship change and configuration management offering, Network Ontology and Virtualization Appliance (NOVA), seamlessly integrates into a live, multi-vendor environment in support of TNC's new IF-MAP Protocol. nSolutions will demonstrate how NOVA updates and audits all changes to network and server configurations, alerting network IT operations in real time, to policy violations, security threats, and vulnerabilities.

IF-MAP defines a publish/subscribe/search protocol that enables a wide range of systems to share data in real time about network devices, policies, status and behavior. For example: An intrusion detection system with a built-in IF-MAP client can publish an alert to an IF-MAP server indicating that a particular endpoint is sending anomalous traffic and a firewall that subscribes to information involving that endpoint will receive a real-time update from the IF-MAP server, triggering an automatic response.

Kamlesh Mehta, nSolutions' CTO and VP of Engineering, underscores the synergy between NOVA and IF-MAP, "Trusted Network Connect's philosophy of enabling more secure computing environments, without compromising functional integrity, is a mantra all IT providers should adhere to; nSolutions subscribes to this open standard. Our NOVA change and configuration management product line hardens IT infrastructure resources -- physical and logical devices as well as applications -- against unauthorized access. Specifically, IF-MAP will allow nSolutions to seamlessly integrate configuration change management into multi-vendor deployments which address post-connect and clientless endpoint security."

"TCG welcomes the support of nSolutions and its products for the new TNC IF-MAP specification. The fast turn on their part to implement this new specification demonstrates the ease of integration into real products and shows that enabling data sharing post-admission gives network administrators new ways to secure their networks," said Stu Bailey, Infoblox CTO and founder and editor of the new IF-MAP specification.
